Accountant
Publishing Company Limited (NVPPCL), started business in March 1986. It is a
multimedia business housing newspaper, magazines, internet publishing,
television, radio broadcasting, commercial printing, advertising and
distribution services. NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda Stock Exchange, with an
expected turnover of over UGX 60 billion (FY 2010/2011).
Accountant will receipt cash and cheques, occasionally bank company money and
handle the bureau’s petty cash with a high degree of integrity.
The incumbent will receive and receipt cash and
cheques/ drafts from clients to recognize revenue, reduce indebtedness by
clients and account for all collections.
Keenly verify cheques received against customer
account details held in the Accounting system.
Match receipts against invoices paid to assist
in debtors ageing.
Arrange cash and cheques, ensuring safety before
and when handing over for banking on the next banking day.
Pay out petty cash/imprest for authorized
vouchers in order to facilitate staff at the bureau to do their work and buy
office materials, in the absence of Administrative Assistant.
Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Diploma
in Business Studies with a bias in Accounting or Finance from a recognized
institution.
At least two years working experience in a busy
and deadline driven environment.
Computer literacy skills i.e. sound knowledge of
Ms. Word, Excel and any Accounting package.
Good analytical skills.
Ability to multi task and deliver in a tight
deadline driven environment.
Fluency in English and Runyakitara.
Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills.
High sense of integrity.
Detail Oriented.
Organized and timely.
