About CHAU:
Community Health Alliance Uganda (CHAU), formerly the International
HIV/AIDS Alliance Uganda, is a national Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)
which was registered in 2010. It works in partnership with other Community
based Organizations (CBOs)/ local NGOs to support community action on
integrated Sexual reproductive health and HIV/AIDS in Uganda. CHAU is an
affiliate and accredited to International HIV/AIDS Alliance as its Linking
Organization. This partnership facilitates CHAU to engage and collaborate with
IHAA’s global network which includes over 40 independent organizations spread
across the world. CHAU through its global strategic partnerships, is able learn
from and adapt international best practices and experiences to the local
context in the areas of organizational development, capacity building,
community systems strengthening, Advocacy and quality service delivery.
Job Summary: The Finance and
Grants Manager will provide financial management support, monitoring and
coordination of activities within the framework of CHAU and ensuring all
policies & procedures, donor regulations, accounting standards and local
laws are complied with at all times
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Manage
the treasury function; monitor Petty Cash, Banking and the liquidity
position of the organization to ensure CHAU meets its financial obligations as
they fall due in line with the CHAU Finance Policy
·        
Keenly review and consolidate CHAU plans and
budgets in line with the CHAU Strategy and planning guidelines
·        
Prepare for and timely respond/attend to the
needs of internal and external auditors and implement recommendations in line
with the CHAU Finance Policy
·        
Prepare
and submit periodic financial reports, schedules, Tables in line with the CHAU
Finance Policy and statutory requirement to the Head of Finance or ED on
time for review and submission
·        
Review all payments to ensure adequate support
documents and timely and proper filing, maintenance and custody of accounts
records & documents in defined area of work for ease of reference and
retrieval
·        
Review
and Analyze accounts/balances relating to the general ledger control account
and reconciliations of subsidiary schedules ensuring accuracy and prompt
processing as per the CHAU Finance Policy and IHAA Financial Management
guidelines
·        
Manage, monitor the utilization and maintain an
up-to-date Asset register in line with the CHAU Finance Policy
·        
Tasked with maintenance of the CHAU financial
information system and processing requirements up to date and Implement core
and good Information system disciplines and practices as recommended by the
software providers
·        
Coordinate
the Planning and develop the unit annual budgets in line with CHAU policies,
guidelines, donor requirements and Best practice
·        
Build capacity of Partner in financial
management/Govemance and Provide technical financial support to CHAU staff in
line with CHAU policies, International Accounting Standards, statutory
requirements and Best practice
·        
Participate in generation and sharing of
finance-related knowledge amongst CHAU and its partners in line with the CHAU
KM Strategy
·        
Managing the granting process.
·        
Leads grant kick off meeting to ensure all parties
are informed and will support compliance.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The
applicant should preferably hold an Honours Bachelors Degree in either Commerce
(Accounting) or Business Administration (Accounting) or Business Studies (
Accounting) or Finance and Accounting with part Professional Accounting
Qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, ACIS, CIMA
·        
At least seven years working experience with
finance preferably in an NGO sector
·        
Good
knowledge of QuickBooks software
·        
Donor financial accounting procedures
·        
GAAP,
IAS/AFRS accounting requirements and budgeting
·        
Word,
Excel, financial information systems, vision excel and executive, as
well as database and other accounting packages.
·        
Tax laws and systems in Uganda
·        
Operations of sub grant partners/community based
organizations Budgeting and budgetary control
·        
Analytical skills
·        
Asset/inventory management
·        
Capacity building skills
·        
Communication and networking
·        
Proven integrity
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills
