institution of the East African Community (EAC) responsible for coordinating
the development of human resources and research in the region. IUCEA is charged with a number of
responsibilities among them being to coordinate academic and research
activities jointly undertaken by Partner states and member university
institutions. The main objectives of
IUCEA are to (i) facilitate networking among universities in East Africa, and
with universities outside the region; (ii) provide a forum for discussion on a
wide range of academic and other matters relating to higher education in East
Africa; and (iii) facilitate maintenance of internationally comparable
education standards in East Africa so as to promote the region’s global
competitiveness in higher education.
Research and Innovation Coordination Officer will provide strategic leadership
in the process of developing research policy, planning, developing and
coordinating research projects/programmes.
Tasked with promoting and enhancing research and
innovation coordination
In charge of coordinating the establishment and
management of a higher education research repository and information system
Tasked with strengthening research support to
higher education institutions and promoting strategic university/industry
collaboration
Actively promoting and strengthening
collaborative research linkages regionally and internationally
Collaborating in the development and
implementation of regional research and innovation and related policies and
agenda with other EAC Institutions
Any other duty as may be assigned by Management

Experience:
The applicant must hold a PhD from a recognized
institution
Ten or more years of experience in teaching
and research at least at the rank of Senior Lecturer, Senior Researcher or
equivalent in a recognized higher education or research institution, five years
at senior management level
Must
be familiar with research funding opportunities existing regionally and
internationally
Extensive knowledge of research in higher education
Possess
sound knowledge of proposal and report writing and evaluation
Be
conversant with academic programs in EAC higher education institutions
and the multiple challenges and global pressures facing them
Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills
Good
computer skills
Demonstrate
capacity for innovation
Age: Below 50 years
