Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS)
Kabale, Uganda
established through an Act of Parliament, The NAADS Act 2001. NAADS underwent
restructuring in 2014 leaving it with a lean structure and refocusing its
mandate from providing agricultural advisory Services to supporting farmers
with the provision of agricultural inputs through the implementation of
Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) intervention.
Secretariat interface with the point of service delivery by executing both
technical and coordination roles within the Agro-ecological Zone.
interventions, involving the procurement and distribution of agricultural
inputs for national and zonal specific priority commodities.
Providing technical support for multiplication
of planting and stocking materials working together NARO Zonal Agricultural
Research and Development Institutes (ZARDIs) and other public and private
sector Agencies.
Providing technical support in intervention for
promoting agribusiness development and market linkages.
Providing technical support in interventions for
promoting value chain development focusing on the upper end of commodity chains
working together with relevant public and private institutions.
Providing support in the establishment and
maintaining of close linkages and collaboration with all relevant actors and
stakeholders in the public and private sectors (i.e. line Ministries, Local
Governments, Agencies, institutions) for effectiveness, efficiency and
sustainability of the interventions supported under NAADS in the respective
Zones.
Tasked with preparing regular reports regarding
implementation of activities under the various interventions in the zones.
Experience:
The applicants should be Ugandans who possess an
Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Economics or
Natural Resources plus a Master’s degree in Agricultural sciences, Agricultural
economics or Natural Resources.
A minimum of five years’ experience in
agriculture related field in a Government Institution or other reputable public
and private organisation.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of
agricultural and rural development issues and related poverty challenges.
Previous exposure and experience in coordinating
agricultural and rural development service delivery programmes.
Computer literacy skills
