Coordinator
development organization founded in 1968. Its mission is to help
entrepreneurial men and women break the cycle of poverty by building businesses
that create jobs, income, and economic opportunities for their families, their
communities, and their countries.
Producer Organizations Activity. The Activity supports secondary Producer
Organizations (POs) to be critical change leaders by equipping their member
organizations with the skills, knowledge and linkages needed to mature and
develop into sustainable businesses that meet the demands of their membership.
The activity is part of the Uganda Feed the Future value chain Development
Project which promotes the integrated development of Uganda’s key agricultural
commodities – coffee, beans and maize. The Activity is currently supporting 27
secondary POs and operates in 12 districts. The activity will reinforce and
contribute to USAID/Uganda’s Feed the Future results by improving productivity
and incomes of smallholder farmers; increasing the quantity and quality of
maize, beans and coffee marketed by producer organizations; and improving the
capacity of producer organizations members to advocate for inclusion in the policy
decisions related to agriculture development at a local level.
operate the program vehicles for TNS related business; ensure safety,
appropriate usage, maintenance of vehicles and compliance with organizational
procedures and national traffic laws during implementation of program work. The
job will entail various field travels in various areas of Uganda.
Drive
TNS vehicle to all approved destinations while maintaining care and safety of the
passengers and the organization vehicle
Ensuring
that all TechnoServe vehicles are in good running conditions including car
washing, maintenance and repairs
Appropriately
check/ verify that all vehicle repair proposals are correct and make
appropriate recommendations
Ensure
that the assigned vehicle is up to date with insurance, and other
relevant regulations according to the requirements of the Traffic Act in Uganda
The
jobholder will report any car accident to the nearest police station, or
nearest local authority of the area and keep the field / Kampala office
informed of such incidents
Make
sure that the vehicles daily log sheets are filled correctly prior to departure
and after every trip, make sure that vehicle movement authorization is obtained
from the relevant person for every movement
Tally
monthly vehicle fuel consumption report, repair and services reports etc.
Ensure
that Techno Serve’s vehicles are not used for personal business
Demonstrates
transparency and accountability in all areas of work
Offer
clerical support including banking or messenger services and any other roles as
assigned by supervisor
Experience:
The
applicant should have completed “O” or “A” Level certificate. Possession of a
certificate course (mechanical, logistics, business or customer care) or
a diploma is an added advantage. Ability to be hands on and examine and assess
car repairs including the following attributes:
Possession
of a clean and current valid driving license
At
least five years of driving experience with INGO, development agencies
or busy private sector environment
Possess basic
computer literacy skills
Ability
to read, write and communicate in English
High
levels of integrity are essential
Ability
to work independently
