URC manages projects in over 45 countries, including the United States.
TB project. Aligned with Objective #3 in USAID’s Country Development
Cooperation Strategy and in support of the Government of Uganda’s TB Program,
this five-year, USAID funded project’s goal is to increase TB case
notification, case detection, and treatment outcomes through health system
strengthening. The Defeat TB project
goal is to increase TB case notification, case detection, and treatment
outcomes through health system strengthening with the aim of ending the TB
epidemic in Uganda.
Management Specialist will be responsible for a wide variety of activities
related to identifying, managing, packaging, and disseminating key information
to advance technical practice and provide practitioners with the tools they need
to achieve TB control results. Specifically, the KM Specialist will lead and
support development of KM products, coordinate learning events, conduct
research, produce resources and guidance, and facilitate ongoing content
development and engagement. The KM Specialist will support the project team to
use traditional and digital learning approaches to develop and implement
innovative, creative, and effective ways to strategically capture and share
technical knowledge, leverage good practices, and improve the effectiveness of
the program.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement effective learning
activities – in collaboration with other project team members, work with
clients to scope and implement appropriate and effective knowledge capture and
sharing activities
Coordinate deliberate and systematic learning
opportunities during project implementation, harvest and disseminate lessons on
monthly and quarterly basis
Document and share learning – ensure
requirements, lessons learned, and best practices for products, events, and
other knowledge management activities are clear and documented
Build capacity for generation of knowledge
products by the different stakeholders at project, National and sub national
levels
Work collaboratively with peers on the project
team including the Technical Advisors, Monitoring evaluation and learning team,
National and district stakeholders to ensure alignment, cohesion of KM products
Manage knowledge sharing events – in
collaboration with the project team, scope and manage the successful execution
of periodic knowledge sharing events such as peer learning sessions, workshops
and conferences
Identify and curate technical website content –
in collaboration the project’s technical team, manage and implement project-wide
content strategies to ensure that the right knowledge is getting to the right
people at the right time (and in the right way)Manage website community
engagement – Respond to website members in a timely manner and engage them in
meaningful knowledge exchange
Identify and share more creative, efficient and
effective ways to engage audiences and facilitate knowledge sharing and
collaboration
Ensure that quality work is delivered on time
Develop annual, quarterly, monthly work plans
and periodic reports
Experience:

Knowledge Management Specialist job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree
with 5+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience
(preferred) in knowledge management, organizational learning, international
development
At least three years of relevant experience TB
and HIV/AIDS service delivery systems strengthening programs
Demonstrated understanding of knowledge
management principles and capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or
organizational learning activities
Demonstrated capacity to deliver knowledge
management in health programs and/or organizational learning programs
Demonstrated coordination, teamwork, planning
and analytical skills to measure the outcomes of the project’s activities and
support project supervision
Proven expertise in quantitative and qualitative
methodologies, operations research, health management information systems,
reporting, data quality assessments, data analysis, presentation and
publication
Proficiency in word processing and Microsoft
office
Substantive Knowledge Management Outputs or
high-quality peer reviewed publications
Strong technical skills including ability to
process and analyze data using one or more statistical software packages
including at least one of the following: SPSS, EPi-Info, Stata, MS Access
Ability to link content development and
engagement strategies that facilitate timely, useful delivery of information
through project learning platforms and activities
Excellent facilitation, program/activity
management, and written and oral communication skills
eligible to work in the Uganda for an indefinite period without a need for
