About UNRA:
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of
Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became
operational on 1st July 2008.  The
mandate of UNRA is to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise
Government on general roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport
concerns, among others.
Job Summary: The Weighbridge
Technician (Electro-Mechanical) will be responsible for the servicing and
repairing of the fixed weigh bridges and portable weigh scales. The Technician
will also be responsible for ensuring full time functionality of all UNRA weigh
scales. In addition, the technician will be responsible for ensuring that all
UNRA weigh scales are calibrated at all times.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
·        
Service and repair Weigh scales in line with the
agreed guidelines;
·        
Ensure that all the weighing bridge calibrations
are up to date;
·        
Install, service and repair electrical,
instrumentation and automation equipment at weigh station facilities;
·        
Maintain operational health and safety
standards;
·        
Participate in stakeholder training for the
weighbridge operators in trouble shooting;
·        
Prepare and submit reports on weighbridge
servicing and repair and submit to the Weighbridge Maintenance and Automation
Engineer.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The applicant for the UNRA Weighbridge
Technician (Electro-Mechanical) career opportunity should hold an Ordinary
Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 3 years operational experience in
manufacturing industry, or any other relevant degree;
·        
At least three years of hands-on experience in a
busy industrial environment with particular exposure to weighbridge
maintenance, instrumentation and automation systems installation and
maintenance.
·        
Computer literacy skills
·        
High levels of integrity;
·        
Ability to work as part of a team;
·        
Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relations;
·        
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
·        
Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely
manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks;
·        
Ability to work under minimum supervision.
