Health Integration to Enhance Health Services in East Central Uganda Project
(USAID/Uganda RHITES-EC) whose aim is to support the implementation of a
comprehensive integrated investment in regional
health, nutritional assistance and HIV/AIDS programs. The five-year
project targets 11 districts in East Central Uganda with an estimated total
population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of
quality health, nutrition, HIV / AIDS and child development services.
Technical Advisor is responsible for designing, coordinating and monitoring
implementation of TB interventions; and supporting cluster, district and
facility teams to effectively implement such interventions; supporting TB
service delivery quality improvement initiatives to systematically address
performance gaps across the TB case finding – treatment completion continuum;
and documenting TB results, including success stories and best practices.
Responsibilities:
Take lead in designing, developing
implementation plans for, coordination and implementation and monitoring of
both pediatric and adult TB, TB/HIV collaborative and DR-TB care activities
across the EC region
Support project cluster, district and facility
teams to effectively improve the quality of TB services using modern
improvement methods (QI)
Effectively participate in TB coordination
activities, including national level and USAID coordination meetings and
activities
Take lead in ensuring that reporting and
documentation of results from TB, including DR-TB implementation is done timely
and is of acceptable quality
Offer technical support to cluster and district
teams (DHTs, District and Zonal TB and Leprosy Supervisors as well as project
District Program Officers) to develop front-line service provider skills –
clinical, linkages, records management and data utilization – for delivery of
quality pediatric and adult TB services
Keenly monitor the implementation of project TB
activities through periodic consultations, progress review meetings, reports
review, and field visits; providing feedback for improving performance
Provide TB implementation progress reports to
supervisor and project senior management on a 2-weekly and quarterly basis
Carry out TB operational research and learning
activities involving the project supported hospitals
Effectively build and manage partnerships
Support EC region districts to effectively
implement and monitor their respective TB DAPs
Perform any other project-related duties
assigned by supervisor
Experience:
The applicants for the USAID RHITES-EC TB
Technical Advisor job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine,
with a post-graduate qualification in a clinical discipline or Public
Health/Epidemiology.
A minimum of five years of experience working in
TB programs in Uganda
Additional training in TB and/or project
management will be of added advantage
Familiar with the Uganda MOH/National TB and
Leprosy Program and PEPFAR strategies and current priorities for DS-TB and
DR-TB (for both children and adults)
Proven ability to analyze and draw correct
conclusions and design improvement actions from routine program data
eligible to work in the Uganda for an indefinite period without a need for
sponsorship will be considered for this position.
