Coordinator will manage and coordinate the designing, development,
implementation and reporting of the Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Self
Employment for National Development. (YESSEN)
project in line with EU and AAU guidelines to ensure quality project
implementation and tangible impact
Responsibilities:

Work with implementing teams to develop
implementation work plans/schedules in line with the project budgets and donor
requirements.
Ensure all project teams and associated
stakeholders, understand the financial requirements/timelines of the project.
Lead and provide technical guidance to staff and
associates in the implementation of project actions in relation with young
people’s engagement.
Ensure Visibility in of EU in all project
actions in line with the EU guidelines on branding and visibility
Lead the organization and participate in regular
review and reflection meetings of the project
project implementing team and project participants in line with the EU and AAU
organizational Policies
Oversee the development of annual targets and
indicators for the YESSEN project in liaison with Livelihoods unit and Impact
Assessment and Shared Learning team.
Monitor and provide guidance to the implementing
teams and associates on management and update of the Management Information
System(MIS).
Support the development of periodic TORs for
reviews and evaluations of YESSEN project.
Organize and undertake periodic project
monitoring visits and facilitate learning, sharing as well as addressing gaps
identified.
Coordinate and manage project monitoring to
track progress and changes in lives of the target beneficiaries.
Ensure collection of evidence for policy
influencing and campaign’s reporting mechanisms
issues to generate evidence for policy and influencing:
Plan and coordinate project baseline studies and
ensure dissemination of research findings
Coordinate project evaluations and reviews including
processes to disseminate the findings.
Support the process of mapping, appraisal and
reporting on project options proposed by young people’s groups for shared
learning.
Conduct periodic contextual analysis on young
people and unemployment to inform the policy advocacy and campaign agenda
Identify information needs/research gaps and
develop strategies for their action.
Identify opportunities and gaps for further
raising resources to sustain the program in the districts
YESSEN project that deal with young people’s empowerment and their campaigns
Periodically map and share project information
with formal and informal networks and coalitions
Identify, prioritize, nurture and contribute to
the development of capacities of associates, networks, alliances and coalitions
under the project for empowerment.
Nurture and mentor social justice movements of
young people to form part of the community structures in addressing
un-employment challenges and agri-business opportunities at grassroots level.
Quickly respond to and follow up information
requirements from associates, networks, coalitions and alliances at all levels
of the project.
Actively participate in district and national
level meetings and campaigns on young people and agribusiness for learning,
knowledge development and networking.
Create and sustain positive working
relationships with the district local government, line ministries, youth CSO
partners, associates and other key stakeholders on the project.
Conduct consultative meetings with relevant
stakeholders to gather emerging young people and gender issues for engagement
at National and district level.
of project experiences, achievements and impacts and other best practices and
disseminate to different stakeholders;
Guide the planning and development of messages
on the project and propose strategic guidance on the medium of communication
relevant to and for young people’s engagement.
Steer the development and writing of articles
and newsletters on the YESSEN project and related processes.
Work with the Livelihoods and Cluster
Coordinators to develop innovative interventions to promote and sustain the
project interventions including CRSA.
Disseminate and influence uptake of AAU and EU
positions in different engagements in line with gender and young people’s
considerations and guidelines.
Apply EU branding guidelines to document, share
and promote best practices on young people empowerment and innovations and
maintain an up to date understanding of key thematic, development trends on
young people’s unemployment and Gender.
Ensure project staff write and submit monthly,
quarterly financial and narrative reports as required
Consolidate periodic project reports and provide
briefs for sharing with AAU leadership team, management and donors
Ensure timely and quality delivery of project
results, learning and taking of joint actions
Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Action Aid
International Project Coordinator Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Self
Employment for National Development (YESSEN) job placement should preferably
hold a Post graduate qualification in Social sciences, Development studies,
Entrepreneurship or another relevant field from accredited academic institution
Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Development
Studies, SWASA, Development Economics or related field from a accredited
academic institution
Additional training in Entrepreneurship will be
added advantage
At least three to four years of relevant
experience especially working with Youth programming and related Policy,
Advocacy work and social entrepreneurship development.
