Job Summary: The Program
Officer – Immunization Program will support current projects in Uganda and
other countries to strengthen immunization and vaccine delivery programs. The
Program Officer – Immunization Program will provide expertise to improve
elements of immunization supply systems both globally and in Uganda. The
Program Officer will oversee specific activities in Uganda, including
strengthening PATH Uganda’s immunization systems capabilities to help the
country achieve greater positive impact on immunization coverage, appropriate
vaccine management, and supply chain cost effectiveness. He/she will lead
specific studies to evaluate cold chain equipment and immunization supply
systems. S/he will lead qualitative and quantitative studies to gather field
data on different aspects of the immunization system as well as work to
implement interventions to address areas of identified need (e.g., through
training or other means).
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
·        
The incumbent will gather, consolidate and
analyze data on immunization supply chain components to inform required
improvements.
·        
Coordinate installation of required equipment
and systems for studies or interventions.
·        
Obtain necessary permissions to conduct the
proposed research in Uganda through existing research ethics bodies and other
authorities.
·        
Present findings of the work to national and
international audiences as needed.
·        
Draft reports and obtain inputs and approvals
from local collaborators on content.
·        
Implement and monitor field evaluations,
providing supportive supervision, as appropriate.
·        
Provide support in the development of a training
curriculum and provide training to study collaborators as necessary.
·        
Collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health
and UNEPI including identification of appropriate study sites, study logistics,
and data sharing.
·        
Draft and review study protocols, pilot test protocols,
and ensure appropriateness of protocols for ease of study implementation and
efficiency in gathering required data.
·        
Work in liaison with national stakeholders
including representing PATH on steering committees to strengthen the
immunization supply systems and ensure coordination of resources and efforts to
support the EPI program.
·        
Work closely with Ministry of Health and
partners to plan, implement, monitor and report on key cold chain activities.
·        
Support field level capacity development and
coordination through supportive supervision and attendance of key EPI meetings
and activities.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The ideal candidate for the PATH International
Program Officer – Immunization Program career placement should hold a Bachelor’s
degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Supply Chain, Health Information
Systems, or any other health related field. Master’s degree in any related
field will be an added advantage.
·        
At least five years of experience working with
immunization programs at central and peripheral levels.
·        
Comprehensive knowledge of the public health
context, including MoH structure, policies, and procedures, particularly
immunization.
·        
Experience working in supply chain logistics or
equipment management.
·        
Experience in research and assessments for
technology and related innovations.
·        
Keen attention to detail.
·        
Excellent written and oral communication skill.
·        
Strong research skills in both qualitative and
quantitative research methods.
·        
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work
effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
·        
Ability to meet deadlines, generate data driven
reports and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
·        
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
·        
Ability to manage multiple tasks, set
priorities, work independently, and maintain a high level of accountability.
·        
The applicant must have legal authorization to
work in Uganda.
