The Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board (BHTB) is primarily responsible
for protecting, preserving, and promoting the heritage of Buganda’s culture.
Buganda in Kampala has been referred to as the home of one of the world’s
richest cultural sites.
Job Summary: The Marketing
Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and executing
strategic marketing strategies for the entire organization and providing
marketing services for all BHTB services, and head the department in ensuring
it works efficiently and effectively by providing real time Marketing solutions
to all BHTB Services.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
·        
Formulate and implement a Tourism Marketing
Plan, for BHTB working closely with Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Wineries,
Airports and other country attractions, and other areas of interest.
·        
Create, maintain and update the customer
databases.
·        
Develop, maintain and implement the marketing
and tourism budget.
·        
Oversee creative message(s) development.
·        
Organize various media information and make
affordable and effective media buys to promote tourism in Uganda.
·        
Social Media marketing and keeping the media
platforms interactive with informative information about Tourism.
·        
Oversee design/printing of marketing
publications.
·        
Plan new research based advertising strategies
for current subsequent years that will increase leisure/travel market share.
·        
Build relationships with national, regional and
international tourism based publications and writers, tour operators and travel
agencies.
·        
Prepare and release press kits to media; build
campaigns and stories for unique selling points.
·        
Design, develop and conduct familiarization
tours for Buganda Tourism sites for media, event planners, tour operators and
travel agents.
·        
Implement corporative advertising programs,
integrating tourism related segments that exist in Buganda Tourism sites (merchants,
food/ wineries, arts, recreation, state parks, and fair grounds).
·        
Promote attractions and community events to
visitors.
·        
Contribute to and monitor the flow of new web
content.
·        
Coordinate with the web maintenance provider to
create a bi-monthly report on the effectiveness of the website and social media
sites.
·        
Provide education program for Hotels, motels,
travel agencies, on attractions/events in Uganda.
·        
Attend meetings, seminars, conventions and workshops
to discover knowledge and stay informed of the changes in the Tourism Industry
and exchange information.
·        
Coordinate special events
·        
Prepare and deliver presentations to both local
and regional civic and governmental organizations on tourism
·        
Design, develop and implement in – service
training programs for staff volunteers.
·        
Gather data and prepare annual tourism
situational analysis for the Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board.
·        
Participate in radio talk shows; provide current
and update information to the press.
·        
Present the BHTB n joint planning sessions to
establish regional tourism activities; sub local committees that enhance
tourism and foster economic development.
·        
Conduct and review market analysis to determine
customer needs, pricing and trends.
·        
Prepares weekly and monthly reports for the management.
·        
Follow market activity to anticipate new trends
and capture business opportunities.
·        
Arranging the effective distribution of
marketing materials;
·        
Organizing and attending events such as
conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions to showcase BHTB services;



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:  
·        
The applicant must hold a good university degree
preferably in Marketing
·        
Professional CIM qualification would be an added
advantage
·        
At least three years of professional experience
in Marketing of Services.
·        
Knowledge of tourism industry
·        
Knowledge of the Buganda region
·        
Strong project management/organizational skills
·        
Excellent communication and presentation skills
·        
Good inter-personal and team building skills
·        
Honesty and Integrity Results-oriented.
·        
Computer literate and Familiar with MS Office
programs.
·        
High level of creativity
