Health Integration to Enhance Health Services in East Central Uganda Project
(USAID/Uganda RHITES-EC) whose aim is to support the implementation of a
comprehensive integrated investment in regional
health, nutritional assistance and HIV/AIDS programs. The five-year
project targets 11 districts in East Central Uganda with an estimated total
population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of
quality health, nutrition, HIV / AIDS and child development services.
Psychosocial Support and Counseling Advisor is responsible for supporting
building of capacity for district and service delivery teams to provide quality
pediatric, adolescent and adult HIV psychological support and counseling
services.
Responsibilities:
Build capacity of project, regional and district
mentoring teams in training and mentoring front-line service provider teams in
adult and pediatric and adolescent HIV counseling and psychological support
Build the capacity of service provider teams at
high-volume facilities in providing counseling and psychological support to
children, adolescent and adults living with HIV to ensure disclosure,
psychological coping and optimum adherence to appointments and treatment
On a routine basis use program performance data
at district and facility levels, to focus HIV counseling service provider
capacity building activities to facilities with most needs
Work closely with the project Youth team,
cluster and district teams, to implement DREAMS-like activities, and other
priority population HIV prevention activities targeting relevant population
groups, and to document project results in this area
Prepare routine and periodic program reports, as
may be required, including 2-weekly and monthly progress updates for this
component of the program
Perform other project-related duties as may be
assigned
Experience:

Psychosocial Support and Counseling Advisor job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Social Sciences or Social Work & Social Administration or a related field,
with a relevant post-graduate qualification
A minimum of ten years of experience in
providing and building capacity of service provider teams in pediatric,
adolescent and adult HIV counseling and psychological support in Uganda
Extensive knowledge of latest developments in
the areas of pediatric, adolescent and adult HIV counseling in Uganda
Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas
and concepts in written and oral form.
Demonstrated skills in training and mentoring
front-line service provider teams
eligible to work in the Uganda for an indefinite period without a need for
sponsorship will be considered for this position.
