partner in implementing the USAID Regional Health Integration to Enhance Health
Services in East Central Uganda Project (USAID/Uganda RHITES-EC) whose aim is
to support the implementation of a comprehensive integrated investment in
regional health, nutritional assistance and HIV/AIDS programs. The five-year
project targets 11 districts in East Central Uganda with an estimated total
population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of
quality health, nutrition, HIV / AIDS and child development services.
Officer will primarily support and manage the implementation of all social
media activities under USAID/RHITES-EC program, covering the following
platforms: include Facebook, Whats-app, SMS, and Hotline. He/she will also work
closely with M&E team to coordinate research and innovation around the use
of Hotline to generate feedback from the community and analysis of data
generated from all the social media and hot-line to inform program
implementation. The social media officer will report to the SBCC Specialist
USAID/RHITES-EC.
Responsibilities:
Create database of and manage all social media
platform and hot-line accounts for RHITES-EC.
Steer the engagement and interaction with
audiences by developing content for social media channels and engaging in
dialogues and answering questions where necessary.
Make weekly follow-up with the Hotline, radio
talk-shows, SMS and compile change stories
Build a database on the SMS platform and send
informative messages to listener’s phones.
Regularly monitor and evaluate mass media and
interpersonal communication interventions in the program districts.
Prepare and submit quarterly, annual reports and
other reports as required
Experience:
The ideal candidate for the USAID Project Media
Officer job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication or
ICT or the equivalent.
Good track record of creating inspiring and
engaging content that really works.
Display in-depth knowledge and understanding of
social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Whats-app etc) and how each platform
can be deployed in different scenario.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate
information and ideas in written and video format.
Good team player with the confidence to take the
lead and guide other employees when necessary (content development, creation and
editing; and online reputation management).
Ability to display good technical understanding
and pick up new tools quickly.
The incumbent should possess excellent verbal
and written communication skills in English and excellent interpersonal
communication skills and positive attitude.
Ability to speak and understand Lusoga or
Luganda local languages will be an added advantage.
