About US:
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) seeks to end
pediatric HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment
programs. We are a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS,
working in 15 countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the
transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today,
because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over
the last 25 years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United
States and new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF
Uganda Country program is currently implementing a number of projects in
partnership with various donors.
Job Summary: The Research
Officer-Regulatory Affairs will oversee all ethical and regulatory activities
related to research and evaluations carried out at the Foundation.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
·        
S/he will maintain an up-to-date regulatory
file, correspond with relevant local and International research/evaluation
regulatory bodies and actively participate in building research regulatory
capacity at the Foundation in accordance with acceptable National and
International Laws and regulations.
·        
The Regulatory Affairs Officer will contribute
100% time and effort to set-up electronic and paper-based systems for safe
custody of all required regulatory documents
·        
Develop appropriate SOPs that streamline
regulatory processes, provide guidance and direction to researchers and
research staff at the Foundation and build their capacity through mentoring and
training on research/evaluation ethics and regulations.
·        
The incumbent will coordinate and advise on all
regulatory activities at the facility level and at EGPAF Head Office in
Mbarara.
·        
In addition, s/he will periodically communicate
directly with the relevant office in charge of research/evaluation, regulation
at the EGPAF Headquarters in Washington DC.
·        
Manage and maintain safe custody of all
essential documents used in the conduct of evaluations/research at EGPAF and
periodically update approvals in accordance with local and international
regulatory bodies.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Human Medicine, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, Business
Administration, Education or Diploma in Clinical Medicine with knowledge of
social research methods.
·        
Significant exposure and experience in
coordinating clinical research or related activities experience in managing
regulatory documents will be an added advantage.
·        
Good writing skills and ability to develop
relevant regulatory documents for review by the immediate supervisor.
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of Uganda and
global policies and guidelines for conducting research involving human
participants.
