is to work with the poor and the ActionAid Uganda (AAU), a national development
organization registered under the laws of Uganda and with a local Board.
Graduate Trainee will be tasked with implementing programmes for identification
of community poverty issues, plan, and manage development interventions while
working with Partners and other development actors in accordance with the Local
Rights Strategic Plan and Country Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities:
periodic reports that address community priority poverty issues in line with
the LRP plans and Country Strategy Paper:
- Implement
programme activities as laid down in the annual plans. - Conduct
periodic monitoring visits and produce reports on field programme activity
implementation at the LRP. - Identify
Local rights community priorities through PRRPs; Community
meetings; child focused days and utilize in planning for annual
programmes. - Identify
community and district level advocacy issues to inform national and
international policy influencing. - Consolidate
community priorities and draw strategic and implementation plans
during planning and budgeting periods. - Identify
alternative models, documentation of lessons learnt from the existing
models and popularize best practices. - Deliberately
drum up CSO support towards advocacy and influencing issues
affecting communities within the LRP. - Prepare
activity reports, monthly, quarterly, half, year plans and share with
wider Action Aid family.

- Work
closely with the partnership officer, support in the identification of
partner capacity gaps and the development of partner growth and
development plans. - Conduct
Support visits to partners and reviews their reports, in line with their
plans, budgets and funding guidelines - Actively
participate in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of partner
capacity development plan- through partner visits; Partner
appraisals; organizational Self-Assessments. - Identify
partner funding gaps in line with the partnership funding guidelines;
respond to call for proposals by submitting concept notes. - Support
partners Institutional development processes e.g. support to hold
AGMs, register with sub-county and district authorities and ensure
functioning of governance structures.

- Identify
funding gaps within the LRP/Partner areas of focus, generate concepts and
proposals in line with LRP strategy and CSP - Present/submit
concept papers for funding and keep track of the status - Review
partner proposals and align them to community needs and priorities (during
planning and budgeting, review proposals) in line with LRP strategy and
CPS IV - Ensure
proper contract management in respect to the signed MoUs and
adherence to financial policies and procedures - Carry
out periodic Project monitoring visits and produce reports in line with
the donors requirements
within the LRP in accordance to the sponsorship Policy and Communications
Guidelines:
- Coordinate
sponsorship planning meetings and organize the Pre-message collection. - Organize
community sensitization meetings for CIs and partners, PRRPs with parents
and children-child days. - Build
the capacity and supervise community workers for quality, timely and
sponsor communications child messages and community reports. - Follow-up
on missing cases and respond to queries from the sponsorship unit. - Collect
new profiles for submission to the funding affiliates. - Prepare
facilitation for Community Intermediaries to enable successful collection
of child messages. - Sensitize
communities on AAU sponsorship mechanism - Carry
out photo updates. - Produce
periodical sponsorship reports (Community Newsletters and Progress
reports) to supporters- collection of relevant case studies and photos
from the communities - Develop
a supporter communication plan and share with sponsorship unit. - Map
out areas for AAU’s poverty priority interventions.

- Participate
in the district and sub-county planning processes. - Participate
and represent the Local rights office in all stakeholder meetings. - Undertake
poverty analysis and service delivery reviews to inform the district
planning. - Share
plans and budgets, reports with relevant stakeholders - Ensure
that partners disburse the resources they receive from AAU
publically.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Action Aid
International Program Graduate Trainee job placement should preferably
hold a University Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or
equivalent from a recognized institution; a post graduate qualification in
M&E or any field will be an added advantage - One to two years of relevant working
experience from a recognized institution, preferably an NGO - Excellent planning and budgeting skills;
- Good capacity building skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills; - Good community mobilization and
facilitation skills; - Good team player;
- High degree of confidence, openness and
willingness to learn; - Self-driven; Ability to work in community
setting - Knowledge of Local Language (Alur)
- Ability to ride a Motorcycle is a MUST.
