Andre Foods International is a registered consultancy firm in Uganda
with a broad-based approach to different scientific and humanitarian
challenges.  AFC provides
multi-dimensional solutions to particularly food processing, food security,
nutrition, water and sanitation, training, environment and research. The firm
has been involved in consultancy work with government, industrialists, local
clients, as well humanitarian work for international Non-governmental
organizations (NGOs) and the UN agencies.
Job Summary: The Gender and
Protection Officer will provide technical support to implementing partners and
local stakeholders to develop systems and mechanisms for proper mainstreaming
of gender and protection in the emergency response programs and to prevent,
respond to, and resolve the abuse, neglect and violence experienced by children
and women in the refugee camps.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
·        
Representing Andre Foods International gender
and protection issues, identifying opportunities to advocate for the rights of
the children and women through exchange of information, negotiation and lobbying.
·        
Actively participate in needs assessments, post
distribution monitoring and field visit.
·        
Provide support in the development of proposals
to incorporate Protection and Gender concerns and aspects
·        
The incumbent will plan, implement and carryout
activities and report on any specific Protection and Gender activities which
are required and necessary.
·        
Develop a checklist for safe programming,
protection and gender mainstreaming in collaboration with Andre Foods
International programming team and partner staff



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a
University degree in one of the following disciplines: Social Sciences,
International Development, Gender Studies, Law, Human Rights, Political Science
or any related discipline.
·        
A minimum of two years of related work
experience
·        
Proficiency in speaking any of these languages
Lugbara, Kakwa and Arabic will be an added advantage.
