Job Summary: The Finance
Assistant will provide support in the administration of the financial functions
of the unit. Typically uses a variety of computer software and systems to
perform duties. Normally performs tasks with work priorities and general
instructions provided by the supervisor. Exercises judgment in selecting and
applying established procedures correctly and in determining when to refer
problems to the supervisor.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
Financial Transactions:
- Prepare payment vouchers for all
transactions - Tasked with performing all banking duties
- Mark all vouchers and receipts that have
been captured in QuickBooks - Keenly monitor requisitions, budgets,
salaries payment processes as necessary - Manage petty cash according to established
policies, systems and procedures
Financial Information:
- Conduct daily entry of all financial
transactions using QuickBooks according to financial policies and
procedures - Maintain and regularly update fixed-asset
register - Help check financial documents for
completeness before posting onto QuickBooks - Identify and recommend to the Finance
Officer and/or Manager the need for new account codes - Help check that all financial documents
are properly filed
Reporting:
- Produce and reconcile computer generated
and manual cash books and ledgers, and pass to Finance Officer and/or
Manager to authorize any corrections if any; - Provide support in the preparation of
monthly financial statements, notably consolidated and grant income and
expenditure budget performance reports and cash flow statements - Arrange and support quarterly audit
processes as guided - Attend weekly staff meetings

Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Refugee Law
Project (RLP) Finance Assistant job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in any Finance and Accounting Related programmes e.g. B. COM, BBA,
BSC ACC. - Any level of professional training is an
added advantage - At least two years of consistent practice
in a high transaction environment - Ability to use any professional accounting
software e.g. QuickBooks, Pastel etc - Excellent mathematical skills,
understanding of data privacy standards; integrity; - Ability to work in deadline driven
situations - Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential as you will need to handle large
data related to finance - Ability to follow instructions as given by
your supervisor to the letter - Good team player
- Ability to prioritize and organize your
work to ensure that it is completed within the given time limit - Comprehensive knowledge of book-keeping
and accounting procedures is a must along with high degree of
concentration and an ability to identify accounting discrepancies - Be a self-motivated, versatile and
adaptable to different cultures and people
