URC manages projects in over 45 countries, including the United States.
TB project. Aligned with Objective #3 in USAID’s Country Development
Cooperation Strategy and in support of the Government of Uganda’s TB Program,
this five-year, USAID funded project’s goal is to increase TB case
notification, case detection, and treatment outcomes through health system
strengthening. The Defeat TB project
goal is to increase TB case notification, case detection, and treatment
outcomes through health system strengthening with the aim of ending the TB
epidemic in Uganda.
TB Programme Officer is responsible for strengthening capacity for Childhood-TB
diagnosis and management within the designated project area of work and
contribute to National efforts and results. S/he will support the Childhood TB
Technical Advisor to coordinate the implementation, monitoring and reporting of
Childhood TB results
Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate provider skills
strengthening activities for all components of childhood TB prevention, active
case finding, diagnosis, enrollment on treatment and adherence support to
complete treatment
Offer technical support and facilitate the
Health facility TB care teams to effectively implement childhood TB control
activities and report the case finding results and treatment outcomes
(including provision of virtual support through telephone, e-mail or other)
Implement the systematic childhood TB learning
agenda, document and disseminate results (innovations and best practices) on a
quarterly basis
Develop annual, quarterly and monthly Childhood
TB activity workplans and periodic reports
Develop TB M&E capacity for the hospital TB
care teams in collaboration with the District and Zonal TB and Leprosy
Supervisors ensuring timely submission of National and activity reports
Coordinate onsite training, clinical mentorship
and coaching for improvement of childhood TB case finding and management using
standard MOH tools and guidelines
Keenly monitor the implementation of planned
activities through periodic consultations, progress review meetings, reports
review, and field visits; providing feedback for improving performance
Conduct and document Childhood TB Operations
research activities
Coordinate the application of Continuous Quality
Improvement methods to improve Childhood TB diagnosis and management
Experience:
The applicants for the USAID Defeat TB Project Childhood
and Paediatric TB Program Officer job opportunity must hold a Degree in
medicine, nursing or equivalent with Post graduate training in Public Health or
other relevant field.
Additional Training Childhood TB management or
at least 2 years’ experience in coordinating childhood TB control activities
Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills.
Demonstrated clear understanding of current key
TB, TB/HIV control and MDR-TB issues at national and global level.
Demonstrated organizational skills and
abilities, sound judgement and high ethical standards; flexible and able to
adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Demonstrated experience in onsite training,
mentorship and QI coaching approaches
Demonstrated organizational and supervisory
skills and abilities; sound judgment, and high ethical standards; flexible and
able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
are required to develop and maintain effective, sustainable working
relationships with key stakeholders
eligible to work in the Uganda for an indefinite period without a need for
sponsorship will be considered for this position.
