Uganda Christian University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker
Theological College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker
Theological College trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history
from 1913-1997. Uganda Christian University was established in 1997.
Job Summary: The eLearning
Coordinator will be in-charge of the UCU eLearning Centre with all its
activities. He/She should possess a high level of knowledge in the innovative use
of ICT’s and the ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues/problems. Will market
the eLearning Centre activities to all the University faculties, departments
and colleges to make sure that the Centre services make a positive impact to
the University’s teaching and learning process.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
·        
Be in charge of the eLearning Centre and all its
activities.
·        
Keep the schedules and timetable for the Centre
activities to avoid crushing programs.
·        
Ensure that the equipment in the Centre is
functioning well and the software is up to date.
·        
Take care of troubleshooting, regular servicing,
and maintenance of all the equipment in the Centre.
·        
Ensure that all users of the eLearning centre
are trained in safe and effective use of the technology and communication tools
available in the centre.
·        
Continuously research on the new technology and
software on the market and advise management accordingly so as to keep the
Centre up to date with the latest technology and make it a Model for other
educational Institutions.
·        
Work together with the UIS team in charge of
systems to update and customize Moodle (LMS) and/or any other LMS that will be
acquired by the University.
·        
Market the eLearning Centre services both
internally and externally. Internally to all faculties, departments, and
colleges, and externally to outside users that may need to use the facility.
·        
Assist the eLearning manager in providing leadership,
training, and support to all academic and administrative staff in the
integration of technology in teaching and learning.
·        
Work closely with the UIS team, the eLearning
manager, and the eLearning Committee to ensure that best practices in eLearning
are followed.
·        
Assist the eLearning team to develop training
materials for a blended learning environment.
·        
Perform any other duties assigned by the
supervisor.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering from a
recognized institution of higher learning or related experience in effective
use of educational technology in teaching and learning.
·        
Two years’ experience in administering IT
environments and knowledge of e-Learning platforms is an added advantage.
·        
Working knowledge of best practices and
instructional strategies for eLearning.
·        
Ability to provide technical training on Moodle
LMS and use a variety of eLearning authoring and/or software applications
packages.
·        
Possess the ability to manage multiple projects,
work independently and in a team environment.
·        
Excellent interpersonal and organizational
skills.
·        
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
·        
Must be a committed practicing Christian.
