The National Animal Genetics Resources Centre and Data Bank,
(NAGRC&DB) is a body corporate under the Ministry of Agriculture Animal
Industry and Fisheries whose mandate is to take a leading role in establishing
a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda.

Job Summary: The Deputy
Technical Manager/ Production will assist the Technical Manager/ Production in
production of most appropriate technologies for the enhancement of breed stock,
disease resilience and productivity.

Assists in the planning and supervision of
implementation of unit budgets, projects and programs.

Sources for and monitors application of animal
breeding technologies arid advices the Technical Manager/ Production
accordingly

Reviews, interprets and reports on recorded data
arising out of animal production and activities

Supports management of the centre farms for
establishment of foundation stock and production of superior dams and sires

Monitors and reports on compliance of animal
breeding centres to breeding standards and practices and advises on appropriate
action where breaches occur

Evaluates and makes recommendations on new
breeding bio-technologies genetic materials

Monitors, evaluates and reports on rearing of
sire studs for production of semen and dams for artificial insemination to
multiply breeding stock

Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:

The applicant should preferably hold a Masters
degree in Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Science or their equivalent from a
recognized degree awarding institution.

Specialized post-graduate training in animal
health and production from a recognized institution would constitute an added
advantage.

At least eight years of experience of at least
eight (8) years in animal industry is a prerequisite with three years
experience at Senior level in Government or recognized institution.
