About UCU:
Uganda Christian University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker
Theological College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker
Theological College trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history
from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to
operate in Mukono. International partnerships were part of the College’s
missionary history. The Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and
others to assure the College had the necessary intellectual and other capital.
By the late 1990s, the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on
society through the higher education – not only of clergy but of other
professionals as well. Uganda Christian University was established in 1997.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
·        
Administer and control the departments’ database
system and be responsible for the performance and tuning of the database
system.
·        
Supervising and monitoring the work of data entrants
and data administrators. 
·        
Generating shortlists for applicants and
admission letters for admitted students.
·        
Managing the transfer of students who apply for
change of programme and any other changes.
·        
Providing faster query execution by managing parameters
and monitoring performance of the Academic Management Information Database.
·        
Perform students’ enrollment analysis and
generate shortlists and related reports to determine applicants who qualify for
the programmes at the University.
·        
Execute requested database queries and cleanup.
·        
Prepare budgets for the Academic Year.
·        
Prepare reports requested by Management and
other regulatory bodies pertaining to student enrollment statistics.
·        
Initiate database fine-tuning.
·        
Resolve problems relating to database issues.
·        
Initiate and maintain procedures for backup and
reorganization.
·        
Assess and recommend database design, upgrade
and changes.
·        
Maintaining data format and standards.
·        
Monitor and implement assigned privileges and
permissions to users of database. This includes adding or removing users from
accessing the database.
·        
Performs any other related tasks as assigned by
the Director/Manager –Admissions.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The Data Coordinator must hold a Master’s degree
in a relevant management or information technology field is an added advantage.
·        
A Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology
related field is a must.
·        
At least two years of post masters experience
working with databases and information technology resources to manage academic
records.
·        
A working knowledge of general university and
regulatory requirements for admission to different levels of study programs
both nationally and internationally.
·        
Collaborative, problem solving, planning and
organizational skills, strong oral, written, presentation and interpersonal
skills.
·        
Excellent research, communication and
organizational skills combined with a high level of computer literacy.
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong
customer focus.
·        
Be an honest, trustworthy, respectful and mature
Christian who possesses cultural awareness, sensitivity and flexibility, and
the ability to demonstrate sound work ethics and work well within a team
dynamic.
