Job Summary: The Controls,
Compliance & Ethics Lead UBL will support UBL to discharge their
accountability in creating an environment where risks are proactively managed,
and internal controls, compliance and ethics are at the heart of the business.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Embedding a culture of compliance within
the business and ensuring leadership accountability; - Ensuring that the Code of Business Conduct
is accessible and understood by all employees across the Group; & by
3rd parties - Developing an appropriate framework of
policies that have clear ownership; - Developing appropriate training and
communications to support understanding of Code and policies; - Tasked with monitoring breaches of the
Code and ensuring consistent disciplinary action is taken; - Developing and introducing best practice
procedures for assessing business and compliance risks and formulating a
response to mitigate and manage risk; - Developing, in conjunction with CARM
control owners and Global Risk & Governance, best practice control
procedures to be implemented by the business to help them maintain
compliance with policies; - Facilitating effective reporting on
compliance KPIs to the management and Board of the company; - Providing support and materials to ensure
third party due diligence is carried out to the standard (KYBP); - Ensuring that the “Speak Up” line operates
to best practice standards and is available to all employees globally;
Promoting within the business the development of a culture of integrity
and solid internal controls. This role is key in ensuring the Global Risk
& Compliance programme is implemented and embedded effectively in the
Uganda business

Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in a
business-related field preferably with Legal or accountancy qualifications
(preferred but not essential) or other professional qualifications. - The ideal candidate for the Diageo
Controls, Compliance & Ethics Lead UBL job placement must have a professional
compliance and ethics or Internal Audit function - At least three to five years of experience
gained through working within a multi-national environment. - Excellent communication and influencing
skills. - Previous experience in developing and
implementing key elements of a controls,
compliance and ethics program, including organizational leadership
and culture; standards, policies and procedures; training and
communications; enforcement and incentives; delegation of authority;
monitoring, auditing and reporting; and response and continuous
improvement. - Previous exposure and experience in policy
development and monitoring relating to areas such as anti-money
laundering, bribery& corruption and gifts & entertainment. - Perceptive and appreciative of different
countries’ cultural differences. - Previous exposure and experience working
in ‘virtual teams’ with colleagues in different functions and locations. - Strong project management focus and
ability to proactively manage own workload. - High level of personal integrity, and
proven ability to ‘stand tall’ under pressure.
