War Child Canada is an International Non-Governmental Organization
(INGO), with the vision of “a world where no child knows war”. War Child
Canada works with war affected communities to help children reclaim their
childhood through access to education, opportunities and justice with cross
cutting themes of child protection and gender. War Child Canada also takes an
active role in raising public awareness around the impact of war on communities
and the shared responsibility to act.
The War Child Canada Legal Aid clinic is a one stop-stop shop with a
broad range of legal aid services to refugees and vulnerable people within host
communities, identified through a means and merits test. Some of the services
offered include; legal representation, alternative dispute resolution, and
legal awareness.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:  
·        
The applicants for the War Child Canada (WCC) Legal
Assistant jobs should preferably hold at least a Diploma in law. A back ground
in human rights studies is an added advantage
·        
At least one to two years of relevant
experience.
·        
Excellent communication skills both in written
and spoken English, including report writing.
·        
Alternative dispute resolution skills
·        
Ability to mobilize communities and work with
volunteer Good communication and presentation skills.
·        
Good training and facilitation skills.
·        
Strong team work with the ability to interact
proactively and collaboratively with WCC and partners’ staff as well as
communities at all levels of the organization.
·        
Willingness to work in remote area.
·        
Previous experience working at a global
organization, charity or law firm is an asset
·        
Experience of developing and using information
systems and running a range of reports.
·        
Ability to travel, at times at short notice, and
spend time away from work base and home.
·        
Proven appreciation of human rights and
understanding of gender issues including SGBV.
·        
Affinity with War Child Canada’s mandate.
·        
Politically and culturally sensitive with
qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
·        
Creative, energetic, adaptable and flexible.
·        
Stress-resilient to be able to cope with
deadlines and complex problems.
