HIV/AIDS care and prevention related to mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
MUJHU is implementing a US National Institute of Health (NIH)-funded study
entitled “Using Enhanced Peer Group Strategies to Support Prevention of Mother
To Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT) Option B+ in Uganda” planned to take place in
Mulago Hospital, Kampala, and Mityana Hospital, Mityana District.
Livelihood Program (SLP) Assistant will provide support in grouping
participants, support in the selection of group IGA’s, activity implementation,
follow up and monitoring of IGAs/SLPs within Friends for life circles (FLC)
groups.
Responsibilities:
Take part in the process of grouping
participants in Friends for Life Circles (FLC) groups.
Foster team work among FLC group members and
handle group dynamics.
Prepare workplans for FLC groups
Mobilize and support Friends for Life Circles
(FLC) groups to access skills building.
Participate in organizing and conducting
relevant trainings such as book keeping, marketing for FLC group members.
Facilitate the writing of business proposals,
group constitutions, develop IGA budgets and make reports for the FLC groups.
Make field visits to the communities and study
clinics.
Take part in the distribution of IGA inputs/
resources and monitor their utilization.
Tasked with monitoring of group activities
including IGAs for the different FLC groups.
Prepare monthly or periodic performance/
activity reports and write stories for learning purposes.
Tasked with the building networks for FLC groups
with relevant CBOs, NGOs, micro-finance institutions and the district local
government for sustainability.
Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or
diploma in any of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Education,
Entrepreneurship, SWSA, Development Studies, Business Administration, Community
and Adult Education, Community Psychology, or Guidance and Counseling.
Possession of a certificate in project planning
and management is an added advantage
Additional training in HIV and AIDS Counselling.
Training of Trainers in IGA management
At least two years’ experience in mobilizing
communities/outreaches for IGA’s or have had skills and experience in
mobilization of participants for studies.
Hands-on experience in Implementing and
monitoring IGA’s in communities.
Ability to ride a motorcycle and in possession
of a valid riding permit. s Computer skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The candidate should be innovative and must also
be fluent in Luganda.
