pediatric HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment
programs. We are a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS,
working in 15 countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the
transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today,
because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over
the last 25 years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United
States and new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF
Uganda Country program is currently implementing a number of projects in
partnership with various donors.
Officer will work closely with the Principal Investigators in Uganda,
Washington and other countries to manage and ensure the technical quality of
the research and evaluation portfolio of the organization.
Responsibilities:
S/he will be a member of a team that will
provide strategic leadership and oversight of the clinical, implementation,
operations, and program effectiveness of research conducted by EGPAF/ Uganda.
S/he will work in close coordination with the
technical and strategic information teams
S/he will provide support for study-related
training activities
The jobholder will ideally develop and maintain
records of research activities and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports as
required.

Coordinate provision of study updates throughout
implementation and dissemination of results at the end of the studies.
Work closely with data management units in
planning, implementing, and maintain data collection and management systems in
support of research activities. Work closely with the technical team to
identify priority program and public health evaluation questions.
Identify and evaluate interventions to address
key programmatic challenges using strong scientific methodology to inform the
program, MOH, and the broader health field. Work with the office of Research
Regulatory Affairs to ensure the highest quality scientific, ethical and
regulatory standards for all research activities.
Actively contribute to capacity building of
EGPAF staff in the conduct of research/evaluations through trainings,
mentoring, and sharing/review of relevant scientific literature.
Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Human Medicine, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, Business
Administration, Education or Diploma in Clinical Medicine with knowledge of
social research methods.
At least three years of proven experience in
health research and evaluation in developing countries, including protocol
elaboration, design of surveys, data collection, data analysis, and scientific
publication elaboration, extensive experience coordinating clinical research or
related activities.
Extensive knowledge of protection of human
subjects in research and ethical regulations to ensure compliance with all
local and international requirements.
Previous experience in managing regulatory
documents will be an added advantage.
Working knowledge and understanding of HIV, TB,
PMTCT, MCH, and HIV care and treatment.
Strong organizational skills, detail- oriented
with ability to prioritize, take initiative and follow-through.
Proven experience working with health programs
in Uganda.
