Job Summary: The Sub Area
Manager -DRC Response works in the Refugee program area and is responsible for
managing the DRC Humanitarian response. The incumbent will play a leadership
role in the two refugee settlements and the transit centre in Kisoro and will
ensure that there is good management of Save the Children emergency programmes
to increase impact and enable positive change for children. The job holder is
responsible for providing strategic direction and management of the emergency
programmes in collaboration with senior management. In addition, s/he is
responsible for identifying needs and resources and elaborating programme
recommendations for the emergency response in the districts in line with the
national and district humanitarian response priorities. He/she will ensure that
all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child
safeguarding, safety and security, code of conduct, equal opportunities and
other relevant policies are adhered to. The job holder takes overall
responsibility for leadership and programme management, including planning,
starting up implementation, capacity development, monitoring, evaluation,
accountability, learning and reporting



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Save the
    Children Sub Area Manager -DRC Response job placement should hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in development studies, social science or related
    discipline.
  • A minimum of five years working experience
    in humanitarian response programmes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Security management
    in insecure environments
  • Ability to speak local language and
    directly interact with target group
  • Thorough understanding of Save the
    Children working principles and approaches is an advantage
  • Demonstrable financial, planning and budget
    management skills a MUST.Highly developed cultural awareness and ability
    to work well in an international environment 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international
    and local policies and frameworks relating to their areas of operation is
    a must and ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting
    as necessary
  • Highly developed interpersonal and
    communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent planning, coordination and
    reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload
