Africa CUAMM
Children First: the first 1.000 days (2017-2022) in Oyam district in Uganda; as
part of this, a new 3 year project – Improving Maternal, Perinatal and Newborn
Health and Reducing Mortality in Oyam District, Uganda funded by Comic
Relief/Women and Children First UK is due to start.
Responsibilities:
- The Maternal Neonatal Officer will support
the health systems in strengthening activities, including provision of
training and intensive support to health centre staff (especially
midwifes) in the management of labour and emergencies in labour including
new born care for sick and healthy neonates. - Support community-based activities
including provision of training and intensive field support to: local
facilitators to establish and guide community-based - Participatory Learning and Action (PLA)
groups and VHTs activities. - Build networks with sub-county level authorities
to support advocacy, lobbying and dissemination of learning and promote
sustainability. - Keenly monitor all project community and
facility based activities to provide timely inputs into project reporting.
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a
Diploma in Midwifery or better Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery, Bsc Nursing
as a top up to diploma in midwifery, with solid clinical competencies and
health centre management experience. - Previous experience in facility and
community-based health programming and activity implementation. - Ability to communicate clearly and with
confidence. - Computer knowledge.
- Motorcycle riding permit will be an asset.
- Spoken Luo language skills
