health care systems through advocacy, research, capacity development,
partnerships and service-linkages.
PROJECT:
(WEI/B) the financial support from USAID are implementing a BETTER OUTCOMES
PROJECT for Children and Youth in Eastern and Northern Uganda. The purpose of
the project is to improve access to comprehensive services across the continuum
of HIV care and to help vulnerable children and care givers prevent and respond
to HIV, violence and other adversities that impact child wellbeing in Northern
Uganda, including the District of Lira, Dokolo, and Kole.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all financial
systems established by THETA -Uganda (as stated in the financial policies
and procedures manual). - Maintain the general ledger accounts by
reconciling accounts receivables and control accounts, analysing and
reconciling payable ledgers - Tasked with the preparation of project
staff payroll and payment of staff salaries. - Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual
financial reports in time to facilitate management decision. - Keenly monitor donor expenditures as per
budget and produce regular budget vs actual reports. - Assist in co-ordination of the annual donor
budgeting as per THETA laid down procedures and guidelines. - Work closely with the Programmes team to
establish the financial resources available for programme implementation. - Prepare financial statements for external
audit exercise. - Collaborate with and provide information
to external auditors during audits. - Identify areas of weaknesses in the
financial systems, and contribute to development of - Ensure that financial reports produced are
accurate and within agreed timelines. - Preparing bank reconciliations of the
BETTER OUTCOMES bank account - Handling the day today accounting
transactions. - Perform any other duties as assigned by
the supervisor
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the USAID Senior
Accountant job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business
Administration with accounting or finance major from recognized
institution or related field; a professional accounting profession such as
CPA or ACCA is an added advantage - A minimum of six years’ experience in
financial management in a reputable NGO with three years’ experience
handling USAID funding.
