Job Summary: The Project
Co-ordinator will plan, guide, coordinate and supervise the smooth preparation
and implementation of the study protocol for the TB- SPEED project activities
at the MUJHU Site and support multi-country implementation for specific output
activities under the guidance of the IOR. The TB-SPEED Project goal is to
contribute to the reduction in childhood mortality from tuberculosis by
delivering an available, feasible, cost-effective, and decentralized childhood
tuberculosis diagnostic approach to enhance case-finding and access to
treatment. The project is a four-year UNITAID funded project implemented in
seven countries (Uganda as well as Cambodia, Cameroon, Cote dolvoire,
Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Zambia).

- Project preparation – Coordinate the
submission of the study protocols to regulatory bodies and involvement in
study planning and start – up activities at the site. Develop the site
specific project implementation plan and coordinate the hospital selection
exercise for the implementation of the project. May also support study
teams on other countries in the submission of their decentralized
protocols. - Project coordination – Ensure the outputs
implemented at the MUJHU site are in line with the protocol and project
plan. Monitor the project progress of the decentralization output in the
participating countries, ensure that quality assurance procedures for the
project are in place and track the recruitment at the various project
sites. - Project communication and reporting –
Participate in study team meetings and calls, organise regular project
meetings, as wed as in the elaboration of the national project
communication plan. Prepare progress reports to the Study PI and central
research unit at the University of Bordeaux in France. Coordinate with the
countries on the decentralised protocol and Regulatory office on
communications with the IRBs and renewal of approvals. - Training of study specific staff
- Participate in any other duties assigned
by the relevant authorities
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Master’s
degree in Medicine, Public Health, International Health or Epidemiology - A minimum of two years working experience
in clinical research in resource constrained settings. - Previous working experience in a
multi-country research study or multi-country study sites. - Experience in project management is an
added advantage. - Extensive knowledge in ICH guidelines, GCP
and the clinical trial study process is desirable. - The applicant must be willing and able to
multitask and prioritize research activities and should possess strong
leadership skills, enjoy professional challenges while being a team
player. He or she will have demonstrable good interpersonal skills with
excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Multilingual capacity including French
would be an added benefit given the multi-country study team. - A desirable profile would also include
passion and commitment to contribute to the reduction in childhood
mortality and public health impact through research.
