Job Summary: The Program
Manager is mainly responsible for ensuring that Advance Afrika’s programs
deliver the strategic goals of the organisation; assisting
communities to recognise and
redress the root causes of criminality and working to rehabilitate, reform and
re-integrate young offenders, so as to achieve safe and free society.  The incumbent will actively participate
in the research, development and implementation of strategic plans that will have an impact on the
strategic goals of the organisation
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Formulate policies, procedures, systems
    and tools that will support the team to work efficiently towards the
    achievement of Program targets
  • Lead a participatory process to develop project plans and proposals
    that will effectively
    respond to identified
    needs and have a sustainable, beneficial impact on vulnerable youth
  • Oversee the Community Programs Team in
    Monitoring, Evaluation
    and Learning activities; ensuring that a
    sustainable, beneficial impact is achieved as a result of our programs
  • Take lead in networking and actively collaborate with the
    communication officer
    and top management in the development of a Program Strategy for Communications and Advocacy that will
    influence key stakeholders to support the achievement of Advance Afrika’s
    strategic goals
  • Lead and offer supervisory guidance to the
    Programs Team, in a manner that empowers them to deliver Advance Afrika’s
    goals and objectives
  • Ensure effective utilisation of the finances
    associated with the Programs Team; in compliance with Advance Afrika’s
    policies and donor requirements
  • Manage program implementation; ensuring that the
    program team are engaged and acquire skills, knowledge and mindset change
    that they are able to subsequently apply (so that effective recognition, redress, reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration are achieved
  • Identify any potential
    areas of cost improvement and/or savings in program implementation
  • Work closely together with the Finance and
    Administration
    department as well as the top management
  • Provide program updates such as reports to
    the Director of Programs
  • Performs other related duties in accordance with
    instructions from the
    Director(s).



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s
    degree in Economics, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Development Studies or
    equivalent.
  • MBA, Masters in Project Planning and
    Management or any equivalent is an added advantage.
  • At least five years of experience in
    project management
  • Ability to write clear and concise
    reports; good spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results
    within tight deadlines
    in a very busy environment
  • Ability to interact effectively with a geographically
    dispersed multicultural
    team composed of international
    and national personnel
  • Analytical skills and decision making ability
  • Capacity building of staff, partners and
    community members
  • Good fundraising skills.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice system or working with
    prison inmates (added advantage)
  • Previous experience in community work; preferably
    social work, psychosocial support, training or equivalent
  • Some business management or
    entrepreneurship experience (preferred)
  • Experience in proposal development and
    budgets
  • Skilled and experienced in the management
    of donor funding up to final report with exposure to reporting requirements of such
    donors European Union, Caritas Switzerland,
  • Foundation of open Society Institute
  • Working with partner organizations in program delivery
  • Excellent computer skills with expertise in excel, word,
    PowerPoint and outlook.
  • Work with minimum supervision.
  • Fluent in Luo
