Corporation (CNOOC) is a major national oil company in China. CNOOC Uganda
limited is China’s largest producer of offshore crude oil and natural gas.
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) specializes in offshore upstream
exploration and production.
Advisor will be responsible for tax and insurance management of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure overall tax optimization and
compliance of the Company, providing suggestions. - Guide the company on tax planning (if
any), tax efficiency and the impact of strategic and operational decisions
to avoid risk of tax leakage. - Ensure tax returns (i.e. PAYE, VAT, WHT,
Corporation Tax, NSSF & LST) are accurately completed, reconcile to
SAP Accounts and payment/ submission is done by the due date. - Coordinate audits by the tax authority and
NSSF, negotiate with tax authorities over tax payment issues and
participate in any disputes or mediations that affect the business. - Ensure all CNOOC Contracts/ Agreements are
tax efficient in order to minimize tax cost and risk. - Keenly review the day-to-day transactions
for tax purposes and ensuring robust tax processes and procedures are in
place. Complete required tax reporting in a timely manner. - Guide management of tax changes that
affect the business and ensure compliance with all tax laws. - Participate in JV Tax Workgroup meetings,
engaging with Government (Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy, OPM,
URA, NSSF, and KCCA) and independent professional advisors on industry tax
issues. - Ensuring proper tax accounting practices
and create tax data collection systems. - Review the Company budget periodically to
advise and monitor past and future tax spend e.g. VAT cost. - Ensuring adequate Insurance Cover(s) are
in place and up to date. - Provide tax training and mentorship to
colleagues and subordinates. - Perform any other duties assigned by
superior.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the CNOOC Senior
Tax Advisor job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in
economics, finance, taxation or the related disciplines. - Professional accounting qualification i.e.
ACCA or CPA - International professional tax
qualification is an added advantage. - A minimum of eight years of related
working experience, three of which in the oil & gas industry - Broad knowledge of international laws on
taxation and insurance. - Extensive knowledge of tax regulations in
Uganda. - Extensive knowledge of IFRS and other
GAAP. - Knowledge of SAP accounting packages or
equivalent. - Understanding of oil & gas E&P.
