Payments and Tax will supervise Head Office payments and tax matters of the
Bank and ensure compliance with accounting standards, Bank procedures and tax
practices
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder will authorise payments in
the system in line with Bank’s budget and approval limits. - Review, reconcile and confirm accuracy of
the general payroll. - Review, authorise and submit tax returns to
the revenue authority in a timely manner. The tax returns include but not
limited to VAT, PAYE, Local Service Tax, Excise Tax, Withholding Tax, etc. - The incumbent will also assess tax
compliance and follow up all outstanding tax issues in liaison with the
bank’s Tax Consultant and Uganda Revenue Authority - Review, authorise and submit Insurance
returns in a timely manner - Review, authorise and submit NSSF
deductions to NSSF in a timely manner - Review and amortize Prepayments in a
timely manner - Improve the integrity of the General
ledger, review Payments information for accuracy and compliance of coded
transactions to Accounting standards. - Keenly review the BOU statement
reconciliation on a daily basis - Manage and monitor the departmental work
plan implementation, set individual KRA’s for staff under supervision,
undertake periodic appraisals and manage succession planning through job
rotation, training, coaching, mentoring and organisation of team building
sessions and ensuring team work. - Daily, weekly and monthly reporting on
section activities indicating outstanding issues
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Centenary Bank
Manager Payments and Tax job placement should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Accounts, Statistics or related field with a Professional Qualification in
Accounting (CPA or ACCA) - Possession of a tax qualification will be
an added advantage - A minimum of five years’ experience, with
three years at a Supervisory level in a similar field - Creativity in problem solving skills
