Job Summary: The Manager
Forensics will implement measures to prevent, detect and respond to fraud in
accordance with the MTN fraud risk management framework and the company’s Combined
Assurance Plan. The jobholder will support the implementation of the FRM
framework across the company.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
Proactive:
  • Carry
    out fraud risk assessments through identification and evaluation fraud
    risks in conjunction with heads of departments through workshops, brain
    storming sessions, meetings, review of existing policies and procedures
    and trending of reported fraud incidents
  • Ensure
    control related findings and actions, from fraud risk assessments are
    followed up for resolution
  • Plan
    and conduct proactive fraud audits, communicate results of fraud audits
    and provide support for remedial action
  • The
    incumbent will assess the inventory of existing fraud controls for the
    different domains, for effectiveness and efficiency. Communicate with
    business units and management with fraud risk management recommendations
    and remedies
  • Coordinate
    the performance of fraud prevention trainings across the
    organisation’s high risk fraud areas
  • Plan
    and coordinate the effective use of proactive data analytics, including
    continuous controls monitoring
  • Periodically
    review fraud controls relating to the top ten fraud risks with a
    view of ensuring continued adequacy and effectiveness of the fraud
    controls
  • Manage
    surprise cash and stock counts at the various MTN outlets where stock and
    cash are held
  • Coordinate
    and conduct of entity wide fraud awareness, ethics trainings for
    MTNU staff and champion fraud prevention campaigns
  • Ensure
    the identification and monitoring of key fraud risk indicators, by review
    of exception reports generated by the various MTNU systems including; the
    ACL exchange, RA/FMS, BIB, and risk secure. Use the exception
    reports to trigger further review and scrutiny where anomalies are
    detected
  • Support
    the internal audit team with input relating to fraud risks before
    embarking on audit assignments-Implementation of Forensics in the audit
  • Assess
    fraud trends and identify best practice in relation to fraud prevention
Reactive/Response
  • Ensure
    effective operation of the whistle blower platform including appropriate
    handling and resolution of reports channeled through the platform.
  • Tasked
    with the allocation of forensic investigations and investigation
    tasks to senior analysts and analysts
  • Manage
    and conduct investigation assignments and reporting in accordance with the
    fraud risk management manual guidelines/ assignment terms of reference,
    including updating of the case management system
  • Communicate
    the results of forensic investigations, via written reports and oral
    presentations to management
  • Follow
    up on recommendations made as a result of investigations or process
    reviews to ensure timely implementation by the relevant departments.
  • Ensuring
    the existence and ongoing adherence to the policies, procedures,
    methodologies and standards within the forensics function
  • Provide
    input into the allocated sections of the quarterly audit and risk
    committee reports
  • Represent
    BRM on special business projects to champion proactive fraud risk
    management
People
  • Ensure
    adequate allocation and utilization of resource within the
    forensics unit
  • Manage
    the performance of the team and team members
  • Ensure
    skills transfer to team including staff development, motivation and
    business continuity



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the MTN Manager
    Forensics job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration,
    Computer Engineering,
  • Professional
    qualification in Forensics/Fraud examination CFE, CFCE, CHFI, GCFA etc.
  • At
    least five years’ experience in a forensics/ revenue assurance or  internal audit function within a telecom
    or banking environment or external audit specializing in forensics with a
    reputable audit firm, with two years supervising or managing a team Broad
    working knowledge of investigations techniques and standards, including
    supervision of complex investigations
  • Previous
    exposure and experience using digital forensics software eg Encase, FTK
    etc
  • Professional
    qualification in Accountancy/ Auditing/information security ACCA, CIMA,
    CIA, CPA, CISA, CISSP
  • Prior
    exposure and experience in use of CAATs
  • Enterprise
    wide risk assessment experience
  • Previous
    experience in performing and leading technology risk assessments as well
    as development and execution of audit plans
  • Broad
    knowledge and understanding of MTN Uganda operations
  • Working
    with Senior Management
  • Effective
    verbal and written communication skills, (i.e. active listening
    skills and presenting findings and recommendations).
