administrations worldwide.
Job Summary: The Head,
Department of Expedited Mail Services will provide leadership in the
development and implementation of business plans for achieving UPL’s objectives
with particular focus on Expedited Mail Services (EMS} business.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Prepare annual work plans and budgets for
    the EMS department and guide implementation of planned activities in line
    with UPL’s strategic and business
  • Formulate and implement strategies to
    achieve UPL’s business objectives in the EMS Department.
  • Drive EMS Department through growth of
    market share as per the business plans.
  • Achieve business targets by driving and
    implementing a SMART annual work plan for the Department.
  • Establish measures to ensure that the set
    standards of timeliness, reliability, quality and cost pertaining
  • Create a strong brand affinity for UPL’s
    products and services through focused marketing strategies.
  • The jobholder will work closely with the
    Business Services Department for driving the effective delivery of EMS.
  • Conduct wholesale market intelligence to
    monitor competition, exploit new opportunities in the market, and gauge
    the company’s market share.
  • Work closely with the finance department
    to derive optimum tariff rates and assure management about prompt and
    complete billing for all service’ rendered.
  • Ensure high standards of service delivery
    and quality control within the EMS department.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship
    and manage performance of staff through capacity building, coaching and
    mentoring in the EMS Department.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Revenue and profitability as per the
    approved plan
  • Increase in market share
  • Timely and accurate production of reports
    to the Board/Management



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Master’s
    degree in Business studies or Management from a recognized institution.
  • Possession of an Honours Bachelor’s degree
    in Business or Management discipline
  • At least ten years of relevant working
    experience, seven of which should have been at managerial level in a
    reputable organization.
  • Significant experience in a communications
    industry will be an added advantage.
