the DREAMS Project in the three sub counties of Maddu, Kanoni, Kyegonza in
Gomba district.
Responsibilities:
- Build and manage a relationship of trust
and respect with AGYW - Encourage AGYWs to talk about issues they
feel they cannot normally share with others - Actively listen to AGYW concerns and
empathize with their position - The incumbent will accept without bias the
issues raised by AGYWs - Support AGYWs towards a deeper
understanding of their concerns - Challenge any inconsistencies in what
AGYWs say or do - Help AGYWs to make decisions and choices
regarding possible ways forward - The jobholder will refer AGYWs to other
sources of help, as appropriate - Undertake personal therapy (mandatory for
accreditation) - Work closely with other agencies and
individuals to help make changes based on the issues raised by AGYWs - Work to agreed targets in relation to AGYW
contact - Undertake group as well as individual
therapy on occasions for AGYWs - Keep records and use reporting tools
- Relate well and work with the health
facilities
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the DREAMS GBV
Coordinator /Counselor job placement should preferably a bachelor’s degree
in counseling and guidance, community psychology - Significant exposure and experience in HIV
prevention programs is an asset - At least five years’ experience in
counseling adolescent girls and young women - Excellent interpersonal relationship
skills - Capable of working and living in a rural
setting. - Willingness to work as a team.
