About US:
The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) was established by the Uganda
Revenue Authority Statute of 1991 and set up in September of the same year as a
central body for assessment and collection of specified revenue, to administer
and enforce the laws relating to such revenue and to provide for related
matters. This statute incorporated all the laws that were in force then
regarding tax collection. The new organization (URA) amalgamated the three tax
administration departments that were responsible for all the taxes collected by
the Central Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Officer
Network Administrator will regularly monitor Telecom Services, Internet,
Contact Centre and VoIP Infrastructure to ensure high availability of services
as per Service Level Agreement (SLA) and URA business requirements.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Install, maintain, Monitor IP networks, supervise (ISPs) to ensure
compliance with the (SLA):
  • Monitor the quality of service of internet
    links to ensure conformity to the service Level Agreement
  • Document incidents regarding internet
    availability and causes of downtime and generate reports for
    accountability
Install, configure and maintain internet servers to ensure high uptime
of internet services:
  • Plan, System analysis specify and design
    solutions to manage internet services
  • Provide second level support by resolving
    escalated requests related to Internet services
  • Set up, customize, test and deploy the
    internet servers as per approved solutions.
  • Document, monitor and report on the
    servers’ implementation, maintenance and operations
Install, maintain and monitor VoIP to ensure high availability of
communication to IT clients:
  • Set up, optimize, troubleshoot and
    maintain VoIP Infrastructure including Contact Centre servers.
  • Configure Agents and Supervisors
  • Work closely with ISP to maintain high
    availability of the Toll free line
  • Prepare reports; Statistical and Traffic
    reports to stakeholders to provide accountability on usage and payment.
Install and maintain domain and naming services:
  • Set up, configure, optimize, troubleshoot
    and maintain domain services.
  • Configure Agents and clients
  • Produce Reports; Statistical and Traffic
    reports to stakeholders to provide accountability on usage and payment.
  • Work closely with ISP to ensure our
    prefixes are adequately advertised and maintain high availability of URA
    services dependant on name services.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicants for the Uganda Revenue
    Authority (URA) Officer Network Administrator job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in
    Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Desirable professional certification: Fully certified in, CCNA Industrial or CCNA Service Provider or
    CCNA voice or CCNA Datacentre or on any Linux flavours. A CCNP
    certification will be an added advantage.
  • Possession
    of a post graduate qualifications in Telecommunication or Computer
    Engineering is an added advantage.
  • At least two years of related working
    experience in medium sized organization while being involved in the areas
    of installation, configuration and support of: – Enterprise IP networks, Telecom services, VoIP Infrastructure, Proxy servers such as
    Linux Squid or any proxy appliances or software.
  • Experience in the IT best practice and standards (ISO, CoBIT ITIL)
  • Working
    knowledge of IPv6
  • Working
    with regional bodies such as Afrinic or IXPs
  • The
    incumbent should be a physically strong person ability to work
    under stressful environments and working long hours
  • Excellent
    interpersonal relationships and one who is client focused.
  • Ability
    to work under minimum supervision
  • One
    who is agile and punctual and disciplined with impeccable integrity
  • Age: Between 28-38 years
