Job Summary: The Digital
Developer & Desktop Publisher will
have the responsibility to develop software tools to support execution of
digital campaigns/engagements as well as traditional advertising. The resource
will offer support for user-interface design, development, testing and
deployment. The developer should also
possess graphic design skills to support the design of traditional advertising
for both internal and external communication as well as perform frontend/UX
designer for software projects. He/she
shall also be the internal stakeholders’ and digital team’s always on resident
designer for all ad hoc collateral as may be required from time to time by MTN.
The developer shall also have the responsibility to create or adapt (existing
design material) of visual communication and creative promotional materials to
support the brand’s communication objectives.

Responsibilities:

- Receive and execute to the expectations of
briefs. This will also involve and require, creation of applications plus
adaptation of creative material to the specific design requirements as
defined in the brief. - Develop prototypes and functional versions
of each software product and present it to the client for approval. - Design digital collateral for MTN’s assets
and where available as part of campaigns, adapt from approved artwork from
the agency. - Perform the production of digital and
offline assets for all campaigns and always on. Where material is
outsourced (e.g. videos), the programmer shall work in line with the
third-party entities – Run testing on usability where necessary. - Research usability of digital interface
considering industry and consumer trends, technological possibilities,
product functionality, and existing usage and business data. - Translate approved designs (PSDs) of the
UX into relevant CSS and other supported files to support back-end
frameworks. - Design, perform and report on user lab
testing of usability designs for MTN websites and apps. - Perform AB/MVT, virtual and lab testing
for MTN software projects ad hoc – e.g. when new designs are causing
doubt, where client and supplier disagree etc. - The incumbent will design UX of MTN
websites and apps to optimize for search engines (All major search
engines, not limited to Google). - Guide the development partners of SEO best
practice including but not limited to link policies, page architecture,
robot.txt and .htaccess file contents, metadata and page structure. - Creating and maintaining style guides and
visualization documents. - Perform the production of both digital and
offline assets for all campaigns and always on requirements. - Design digital collateral for all assets
(bought and owned) and where available as part of campaigns, adapt from
approved artwork from Creative team. - Advise the rest of the team on the most
innovative digital translation and execution of the various communication
strategies. - Support the different agency and client
teams by participating in brainstorming sessions whenever called upon. - The developer should also be able to
design front-end mock-ups of the user interfaces and provide the
appropriate file formats to the Backend Developer/Programmer. The
developer should be conversant with Windows ASPX and MS SQL - Support the ongoing development of brand
Digital Identity – including but not limited to updating designs in
accordance with best practice, brand changes, insight from test and
optimization, and updating digital identity website. - Present work in a logical and exciting
manner to make it easy for users to digest. - Timeously manage jobs and take
accountability for deadlines.

placement should have a minimum of three years’ experience working in a
commercial environment, advertising agencies with both traditional
advertising and digital design competencies - The developer should be conversant with
Windows ASPX and MS SQL - Demonstrated ability to read and interpret
both strategic papers and briefs - Previous experiencing in dealing with
production houses and online media design entities - Experience in translating PSD designs of
the UX into relevant CSS and other supported files to support back-end
frameworks will be an added advantage
