stronger management systems that improve health services for the greatest
health impact.
Communications Senior Specialist will mainly be responsible for the development
and dissemination of project literature, including drafting regular and ad hoc
reporting to USAID. S/he is responsible
for capturing, packaging, synthesizing and sharing project successes through
methods such as success stories disseminated through USAID, the MSH web site,
Friday Focus, and the MSH eNewsletter, conference presentations, case studies,
and posts on the MSH blog, Global Health Impact. S/he will collect a minimum of one success
story from the field each quarter and share it with the CHS Communications
Manager. S/he will support to the MSH Country communications.
Responsibilities:
collaboration with the entire TRACK TB Project team, the Communications
Specialist will:
- Increase the profile of the project’s work
by writing monthly success stories, fact sheets, drafting press releases,
articles, etc., as noted in the project CKE plan and informed by project
results. - Gather, edit, and write content for and
maintain the project web page and promote awareness of the site.
Contribute project content including success stories and news items for
the MSH corporate website, Friday Focus, and intranet as needed by the
project or requested by the Center or CKE. - Ensure and facilitate adherence to project
reporting requirements, including reviewing quarterly and annual reports
to USAID and MSH for content and branding requirements and assisting with
quarterly review slides and presentation. Liaise with MSH home office on
final report preparation. - Provide ongoing capacity-building support
for project staff on communications and knowledge exchange tools,
templates, resources and approaches. - Steer the process of preparing the project
close out documents working together with the technical teams
- Manage the MSH brand in country and
develop communication products to promote MSH visibility - Ensure professional and accurate media
engagement of MSH, in coordination with the Director of Strategic
Communications in the Home Office. - Ensure the country information on the MSH
external and internal (Ollie) websites is continuously updated and staff
informed accordingly. Provide updates to MSH intranet and on Friday Focus.
Train and motivate staff to make contributions to OLLIE - Keep abreast with key project activities
and report results from all MSH projects in the country - Actively participate in coordination
meetings with stakeholders, INGOs, local organizations, and high-level
government officials when and as requested. - Maintain all external correspondences and
appointments of the Country Representative. - Maintain MSH’s master list of stakeholder
contact information and update regularly
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Management
Sciences for Health Communications Senior Specialist job opportunity
should hold a Bachelor’s Degree, (Master’s an additional advantage) in
communication Public Relations, and journalism or equivalent; - At least three to five years’ experience
working with an NGO or equivalent, is preferred; - Expertise in representation and
negotiation with governments and donors; - Ability to relate and represent MSH to
major program partners, in a highly professional manner; - Strong working knowledge of salient
communications interventions to document and share organization successes. - Strong media engagement skills and ability
to promote MSH visibility to external audiences. - Previous exposure and experience in
designing strategic corporate information and communication plans and
activities. - Demonstrated ability in the monitoring and
evaluation of large corporate communication interventions. - Proven skills and ability to produce high
quality promotional materials through field photographs, testimonies and
video clips. Experience in using social media. - Strong skills and ability to communicate
technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and
non-technical colleagues. - Previous exposure and experience in
advocacy, networking and collaboration with other partners. - Ability to work in teams and maintain
collegial working relationships with partners, donors and staff. - Excellent written, oral and interpersonal
communication skills. - Fluency in English.
