MU-JHU Care Ltd (MUJHU) is a registered Ugandan non-governmental
organization dedicated to providing services and conducting research on
HIV/AIDS care and prevention related to mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
Job Summary: The Community
Educator /Field Recruiter for HIV Prevention Trial Studies  will be involved in community mobilisation,
participant’s recruitment, retention and follow up for the HIV Prevention
Trials.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Development of Communication and Education
    materials with guidance from the trial Protocol teams as may be required.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and
    retention strategies for a given study including: – mapping of high risk
    area/zones.
  • Building working relationships with
    identified contact persons and community gatekeepers.
  • Conduct study activities including
    community sensitization about research activities for the studies.
  • Mobilize potential participants who are
    likely to be retained after recruitment and enrollment for the studies.
  • Conduct pre-screening including prevention
    of co-enrollment.
  • Identification and referral of potential
    participants to the site clinic.
  • Recruitment and retention of study
    participants.
  • Participants’ follow up.
  • Community outreaches/sensitizations.
  • Counselling and education of participants.
  • Participate in any other duties assigned
    by the relevant authorities.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s
    degree and /or at least a Diploma in Social Sciences or related field. A
    certificate in HIV Counselling will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of two years of related
    experience in a busy health institution or in mobilizing
    communities/outreaches for health issues or have had skills and experience
    in mobilization of participants for studies.
  • The desired person must be able and
    willing to work for long hours including weekends
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be innovative and
    MUST be fluent in Luganda.
