Revenue Authority Statute of 1991 and set up in September of the same year as a
central body for assessment and collection of specified revenue, to administer
and enforce the laws relating to such revenue and to provide for related
matters. This statute incorporated all the laws that were in force then regarding
tax collection. The new organization (URA) amalgamated the three tax
administration departments that were responsible for all the taxes collected by
the Central Government of Uganda.
Data Centre Administrator will keenly monitor all operations in the Uganda
Revenue Authority (URA) data center and
provide support to users of IT services in order to ensure availability of IT
services and Business Continuity.
Responsibilities:
in the data centre to minimize outages and ensure availability of IT services
- Maintain the IT equipment, systems and
network infrastructure and monitor their functionality in the data centre - Work closely with second level support to
conduct, server installations and configuration in the data centre
whenever need arises - Ensure the data centre is clean and
environment is up to standard to minimize outages. - Operates and maintains a Hot Aisle/Cold
Aisle system of cooling. - Carry out a systems back up of information
and ensure data synchronization between the primary and secondary site - Manage contracts of data Centre service
providers and supervise preventive maintenance of data Centre equipment - Compile weekly reports for service
performance in the data centre and submit to line manager

- Work closely with stakeholders to make
various installations of security equipment in the data centre such as
CCTV cameras and biometric access controls. - Monitor the security of equipment
installed in the Data Centre and are in good working condition at all
times - Maintain and ensure that the data Centre
activity register is signed by all individuals accessing the data Centre - Identifies safety and security issues at
the IT facilities and inform relevant supporting units accordingly.
efficiency and effectiveness of IT systems:
- Quickly respond to user requests by
providing support or escalate to second level support - Manage access to systems through account
creation, setting and resetting passwords for users - Installation and configuration of software
(Microsoft, windows office) on computers and trouble shoot software faults - Carry out hands-on trainings on IT
applications to users of IT services - Supervise service providers during
execution of the preventive maintenance exercise
Experience:
- The applicants for the Uganda Revenue
Authority (URA) Officer Data Centre Administrator jobs should hold Bachelor’s degrees in Information
Technology, Software Engineering, Computer science or another Information
Technology degree obtained from recognised academic Institutions - Desirable Professional Qualifications:
Microsoft Certified System
Administrator (MCSA), CISCO
Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Comptia A+, Oracle Certified Administrator, Certified Data Centre
management Professional, Information Technology Infrastructure Library
(ITIL) - At least two years’ experience in a busy IT environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of Data Centre management, National IT Act, Information
communication policy - Good team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly
flexible, assertive, with good customer care and communication skills. - Will
be on call outside of normal work hours for any emergencies or
service interruptions. - Ready
to work outside of normal hours on any planned major activities that
require evening or weekends. - Age: Between 28-38 years
