reached over 143 million children through our work around 52m directly and 91
million indirectly around the world.
Job Summary: The Medical
Doctor is mainly responsible for ensuring quality in primary health care activities
/ services provided to refugees and host communities at the health facility and
in the catchment communities by providing medical consultations.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Save the
    Children Medical Doctor job placement should hold an MBChB degree from a
    recognized institution, Registered with relevant professional authority
    and a valid practicing license
  • Previous experience of NGO work in public
    health humanitarian settings.
  • Previous exposure and experience in primary
    health care, general practice.
  • Management experience supervising medical
    teams
  • Prior experience in maternal, neonatal and
    child health care in emergencies including reproductive health and
    adolescent care.
  • Proven skills in program planning, and all
    aspects of project management.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership and
    supervision of staff and in building and maintaining a high performing
    team.



  • Previous experience in promoting children’s
    rights and gender, including participation in programming, design,
    implementation and evaluatio
    .
  • Extensive knowledge of health regulations
    and policies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to
    influence and guide staff and partners in identifying programming
    opportunities and resolving program challenges.
  • Past exposure and experience of working
    with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights
    Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is
    an added advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic
    planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain
    conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a
    team.
  • Computer literacy and excellent
    documentation skills are a must.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and
    ability to work well in an international environment with people from
    diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis
    management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and
    communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning
    capacity.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Willingness to travel and work in
    hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
