Connections Officer
is the secretariat of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) established by
statutory instrument 2001 No. 75. REA is mandated to implement Government’s
rural electrification programs. The Government of Uganda through REA is
implementing a number of electricity connection projects with financial support
from development partners to meet national electricity access targets.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate connection activities of the
Electricity Service Providers and manage consultancies in the allocated
Service Territories. - Provide support in the preparation of
projects to accelerate connections. - Prepare project monthly, quarterly and
annual work plans, monitoring plans and budgets. - Manage the implementation of connection
projects by Service Providers and prepare progress reports. - Carry out desk and physical monitoring of
connection projects in Service Territories to ensure compliance with
project requirements. - Identify any challenges by SPs and support
them to meet set targets. - Collect connection data, update database
and analyze information to establish connection trends and advise on the
necessary interventions. - Work closely with the GIS unit to maintain
an up-to-date database for all connections, - Offer support on inventory and finance
management for connection materials - Assist in carrying out project awareness
and mobilization activities. - Carry out any other relevant activities
assigned by the supervisor.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, - Management and Statistics.
- Possession of a Post Graduate
qualification in Project Management or Monitoring will be an added
advantage. - At least five years of practical working
experience in project management and monitoring of projects in a reputable
organization. - Previous experience working with donor
funded projects - Age: Below 35 years
