Job Summary: The Senior
Logistics Associate (Commodity Accounting) will support the United Nations
World Food Programme (WFP) by taking full responsibility for technical,
specialised work including planning, organisation and coordination and setting
objectives for all assistance modalities for both WFP and logistics common
services. The job holder deals with issues that are often undefined and involve
areas of uncertainty and complex inter-relationships. The instructions received
are broad and the job holder consistently demonstrates a high degree of
responsibility and initiative to independently manage activities and respond to
queries. The incumbent will motivate and develop a team of support staff and/or
are responsible for specialised support service(s) where the work is undertaken
with the help of specially designed techniques, methods and processes. The

specialised support functions and/or lead a team performing standard
logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of
goods and services for all delivery modalities.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- The incumbent provides commodity
accounting support to WFP supply chain operations and activities, following
standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the
effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. - Keenly monitors inventory management
processes to track trends and account for the inventory status from source
to beneficiary. - Offers support to the World Food Programme (WFP) field operational
staff for commodity accounting data quality and integrity. - The jobholder identifies, resolves and/or
provides solutions and recommendations on queries/requests for commodity
accounting support using Logistics Execution Support System (LESS) to
ensure timely and accurate resolution of queries with excellent client
service mind-set. - Identifies and provides leadership in
continuous LESS data verification and reconciliation to ensure excellent
data quality required for real time reports. - Performs research, collects data and
conducts analysis, produces reports (e.g. LESS performance monitoring,
Standard Project Reports [SPRs], physical inventory and other requisite
tracking reports). - Keenly monitors the activities of LESS
users in the country, provides practical advice, guides and trains as necessary, to
ensure goals and objectives are delivered to agreed standards and
deadlines for the all the commodity accounting activities. - Acts as a focal person for LESS
operations, administration and reporting issues with the Regional office
in Nairobi (RBN)) and Headquarters in Rome. - Performs any other duties as deemed
necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the United Nations
UN World Food Programme (WFP) Senior Logistics Associate (Commodity
Accounting) job should hold a University degree with experience in any of
the following; – in statistics, economics, business administration,
transport/freight forwarding/customs clearing and logistics/supply chain
management. - A minimum of five years of progressively
responsible experience in supply chain industry. - Computer literacy skills i.e. working
knowledge and experience using MS Office applications is a must. - Previous experience in coordinating with
transportation providers and third parties. - Prior exposure and experience in leading a
team of national staff. - Previous experience assisting in project
management. - Prior experience in preparing and managing
budgets.
Functional Capabilities:
- Supply Chain Management and
Optimization: Demonstrates ability to design basic supply chain
networks, including appropriately assessing and escalating challenges to
ensure that WFP is able to provide consistent and uninterrupted service to
its beneficiaries and partners. - Planning, Project & Resource
Management: Collects and analyses relevant technical data from
diverse sources to forecast operational needs under various scenarios and
makes evidence-based proposals. - Information Management & Reporting:
Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to consolidate preliminary
data analysis, draft reports and disseminate information that represents
concerns and trends. - Market Analysis, Contracting and
Operational Execution: Demonstrates ability to collect market
information and process and analyse proposals in line with WFP standard
rules and regulations in order to deliver efficiently. - Warehouse and Inventory Management:
Demonstrates ability to implement operational warehouse procedures and
normative guidance in order to manage WFP’s warehouse, handle inventory
effectively through corporate systems, and ensure loss mitigation. - Technical Assistance and Coordination:
Demonstrates abilities to provide basic technical advice and maintain
effective (inclusive, collaborative, unified) logistics coordination
mechanisms with humanitarian partners and other relevant stakeholders.
