foundation “Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung” (HRNS), a not-for-profit organization
established in 2005. With the objective of promoting sustainable development,
HRNS implements hands-on projects to improve working and living conditions of
small-scale coffee farmers. Its activities concentrate on the economic and
social development of producer communities by enhancing their competitiveness,
forming and strengthening farmer organizations, creating better market linkages
and promoting access to important support services, while at the same time
promoting sustainable coffee farming and long-term use of natural resources.
Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung Africa is implementing a new USAID-funded program
addressing climate change adaptation in coffee production.
Responsibilities:
- The Field Officer will be tasked with
training field extensionists and implementing an effective agricultural
extension system for improving coffee production and quality at farm level - Responsible for developing farmer
organizations and coaching leadership on aspects of governance, business
administration, management and marketing - In charge of monitoring the performance of
farmers and farmer organizations - Work closely with district Agricultural
Officers and sub-county officials
Experience:
- The applicants should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture or similar discipline - At least five years’ experience in
extension work within rural locations - Extensive knowledge of sustainable coffee
farming - Previous experience in organizational
development - Highly self-motivated and disciplined with
good communication skills - Ability to ride a motor cycle with a valid
riding license
