DFCU bank is a fast growing commercial bank offering a variety of
innovative products and services. DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth
Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of
Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development
Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of
Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC
and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support
long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to
the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: The Regional
Manager-Eastern Region will be responsible for business growth &
operational management deliverables for all DFCU branches in the specified area
to meet their targets in areas of business, operational/credit control,
customer service, financial performance and people management in line with the
Consumer Banking Strategy.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The
    incumbent will support branches under jurisdiction to identify and source
    for new business.
  • He
    / she will also engage and maintain cordial relationships with local
    governments and NGOs in the area.
  • Grow
    the business in line with the agreed targets and make recommendations to
    management in regard to new products that suit that particular
    market.
  • Make
    site visits to ensure viability of projects funded.
  • Regularly
    monitor branches under jurisdiction to ensure that they return acceptable
    audit and risk assessment ratings.
  • Monitor
    the portfolio and liaise with branch managers to ensure that PAR
    and NPAs are kept within the acceptable levels.
  • Monitor
    service delivery to ensure that excellent customer service standards are
    maintained.
  • Provide
    supervision, mentoring of staff, evaluate performance, identify
    training/ staffing gaps and competence levels and make recommendations to
    management.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the DFCU Bank Regional
    Manager-Eastern Region job opportunity must hold a University Degree.
  • At
    least five years’ experience in a Bank with at least two-year stint in a
    branch manager function or related areas.
  • Excellent
    communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Good
    /high level of engagement & negotiation skills.
  • Excellent
    Credit Appraisal & Analysis skills.
  • Broad
    knowledge and understanding of the SME Segment.
  • Extensive
    knowledge of the Bank’s products, systems, consumer banking & DIB
    goals/objectives.
  • Excellent
    Customer service, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Strong
    Industry and business acumen.
  • Excellent
    problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Good
    leadership, performance driving & teambuilding skills.
