About Us:
The Government of Uganda is implementing the Youth Livelihood Programme
(YLP) and the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP), under the
Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD). The main objective
of the Programmes is to empower the target youth and women to harness their
socio-economic potential and increase self- employment opportunities and income
levels. The Programmes provide revolving funds to finance small enterprises
initiated by the groups of youth and women in various sectors of the economy.
The implementation of the Programmes is mainstreamed into the government
structures at the national and local government levels with support from
Technical Support Team (TST) based at the National and Regional levels.
Job Summary: The Assistant
Programme Officer (UWEP) will provide support in coordinating Programme at the
Regional level with key stakeholders.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Initiate, plan, and coordinate with
    districts within specified regions on implementation of UWEP.
  • Offer timely administrative support to the
    Programme activities.
  • Verify group application files.
  • Render support in the review of the
    District annual work plans on UWEP activities.
  • Assist in conducting periodic spot checks
    on Programme implementation at project sites.
  • Tasked with coordinating the participation
    of key stakeholders in UWEP activities.
  • Assist in maintaining information database
    on key ongoing initiatives within the region and builds partnerships.
  • Assist in analysing reports from each
    enterprise project
  • In charge of preparing monthly beneficiary
    report on enterprise implementation.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the production
    of various Programme reports for the Region.
  • Perform any other duties assigned from
    time to time by the National Programme Coordinator.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must be a Ugandan who holds
    an Honours Bachelors Degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Development
    Studies, Business Administration or a related field from a recognized
    University.
  • One year of related work experience
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Excellent organizational and planning
    skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication
    skills.
  • Computer literacy skills
