Job Summary: The Conflict
Management Assistant is directly responsible for the operational implementation
of all conflict management activities in the assigned target areas.

Coordination / Representation:
- Build working relationships with field
level structures, authorities, community leaders and local actors as well
as field level private and other stakeholders - Work in close coordination with the
Conflict Management Officer attend and represent the interest of DRC in
the areas of your responsibility - Actively coordinate EUTF program livelihoods,
ALP staff and with the field staff of other DRC sectors and other
organizations - Actively participate in assigned regular
sector meetings and in-house coordination meetings. - Act as primary link between the assigned
target communities and DRC.
Project Implementation and Reporting:
- Effectively implement the day to day
activities according to plan and technical standards. - Actively contribute in the development of
projects through field experience and information sharing. - Assist in meetings and trainings with
stakeholders, local conflict management actors and project beneficiary
target groups - Facilitate the development of awareness
raising campaign led by communities in assigned target communities for the
EU Trust Fund projects. - Organize youth events, beneficiary
trainings and other conflict management activities. - Keenly monitor the implementation of the
awareness raising campaign plan by the assigned target communities and
support the communities to improve implementation. - Participate in quality data collection and
timely reporting. - Actively mobilize beneficiaries to
effectively and willingly participate in the project activities. - Monitor and document DRC’s conflict
management activities according to given formats, guidelines and
timelines. - Prepare and submit reports to contribute
to the weekly, monthly and other reports - Ensure the delivery of items and others
services to beneficiaries.
Staff Development and Management:
- Supervise community level volunteers, and
community participants. - Provide technical and programmatic
leadership for the community based structure in Yumbe operational area as
needed. - Conduct daily field visits to support
field staffs – mentoring – through technical back stopping and to train
duty bearers. - Uphold DRC’s code of conduct and principles
of accountability
Logistics /Finance:
- Assist the Conflict Management Officer in
monitoring financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and
provide timely feedback on budget follow ups. - Plan and coordinate proactively logistics
and movements of staff from and to different clusters. - Follow up all DRC Procedures on Security,
Finance, Logistics, HR and Administration. - Actively take part in the facilitation of
order requests - Ensure effective use of resources in the
field
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Danish Refugee
Council (DRC) Conflict Management Assistant job placement must hold a Law
Degree or equivalent in social sciences - One year of experience in similar
position. - Excellent knowledge in preparing major international
donor reports. - Knowledge and experience of working with
Echo, EU donors. - Possess strong analytical and conceptual
skills. - Fluent in written and spoken English and
at least one local language. - Must be in possession of a valid
motorcycle riding permit with at least one year of rough road riding
experience. - Proven commitment to accountable
practices. - Knowledge of working in challenging
environments. - Demonstrated ability to manage large
varied workloads and deal constructively with stress and periods with long
hours. - Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet
deadlines and work with limited supervision - Proactive, stable and robust character and
a good team player. - Excellent communication skills, calm and a
good sense of humour. - Excellent interpersonal skills and
demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations at all
levels. - Computer literacy skills with proficiency
in Microsoft Word and Excel.
