Coordinator
Law, Makerere University. Our Mission is to empower asylum seekers, refugees, deportees,
IDPs and host communities to enjoy their human rights and lead dignified lives.
Refugee Law Project’s work is currently structured in five thematic areas:
Access to Justice; Conflict, Transitional Justice & Governance (CTJ&G),
Gender & Sexuality; Mental Health & Psychosocial Wellbeing; and Media
for Social Change.
English Facilitator will support Refugee Law Project (RLP’s) Nakivale Refugee
Settlement by facilitating the learning of English language to non-English
speaking refugees and other victims of forced migration.
Responsibilities:
- The Community English Facilitator will
teach Adult learners functional English and practical skills to help them
in running their day to day affairs; - The Facilitator will also coordinate with
class leaders in respective classes to ensure that classes are run in a
systematic manner and order; maintain an up-to-date register for EFA
students; - Organize debates for the learners to help
them develop confidence in the language taught though educational
arguments; - Prepare lesson plans for the class
assigned to fit within the specified period of study(term); - Give assignments to learners in time and
making sure that the given assignments are marked and results handed over
to the learners on time; mobilize communities for community policing
meetings; - The jobholder will also arrange and
organize materials to be used in community policing as well as police
trainings; - File all EFA materials in a way that can
make them easily accessible by users; - Ensure that all information disseminated
to learners is given in proper manner and in the languages understood by
the learners and also attend in-house and out of office meetings/workshops
whenever requested
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Refugee Law
Project (RLP) Community English Facilitator job opportunity must hold a Diploma
/ Degree in Adult Education , Development studies - Previous exposure and experience in the
teaching of English to Adults and in the management of a similar
programme. - Fluency in Kiswahili and/or any other
language spoken in refugee communities will be an added advantage
