World uses an innovative approach to self-empower 1.2 billion people out of
extreme poverty with their own solutions by 2030 in 42 countries. We provide
large-scale access to local solutions that are created by the very people
living in extreme poverty.
annual event that takes place in the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. The event is free
admission and hosts thousands of vulnerable youth that can learn a range of local
and simple skills to self-employment. This year the event is celebrating its
5th anniversary and the event aims to host 10,000 youth.
Responsibilities:
- Tasked with planning of the layout and set
up of the venue site. - Identifying and secure music entertainers
and other stage acts. - Managing the PR and get large-scale
national wide media coverage. - Responsible for facilitating the
identification and invitation of strategic and special guest. - Securing in-kind and funding sponsorship
for the event that will also lead to long term partnership and clients.
This may include preparing short proposals and MOU’s. - Taking part in strategic visioning and
brainstorming sessions with the team in Kampala.
Experience:
- The applicant must share our passion for
solving the problems of extreme poverty by using local solutions. - Vibrant, creative and open personality,
able to relate with young people and adapt to a wide range of
circumstances, with high level of motivation and accountability, and
entrepreneurial (able to think outside the box). - The ideal candidate must hold an undergraduate
degree in business or a related field - A post graduate in any business field is
an added advantage. - At least three to five years of relevant
education and/or work experience - Good track record of fundraising and/or
business development and event management - Possess a solid network of strategic
contacts with business, organizations, international organizations and
musicians - Diplomatic abilities and able to develop
strategic partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders such as the
government, universities, community associations, international organizations
and businesses. - Good computer skills in word processing
(Microsoft Word and Excel) and Internet applications including social
media, email, and communication via Skype. - Willingness to work beyond 40 hours a week
including work on some weekends. - Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
including good oral and written communication skills in English and local
languages and good social skills, having an ability to solve problems and
resolve conflict (both personal and professional).
ranges from 2 to 2.8 Million Ugandan Shillings for a 6-week contract.
