Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of
Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of
Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in
DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners
with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to
support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not

Job Summary: The Senior
Banking Officer –Trade Finance Operations is charged with reviewing and
authenticating of foreign currency wire remittances; Letters of credit; Guarantees
and Foreign currency Bills in accordance with regulatory and operating
guidelines so as to minimize risk and prevent fraud.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- The
jobholder will prepare letters of credit drafts and issue final Letters
of Credit in accordance with the operating guidelines. - The
incumbent will also verify and authorize all trade finance Vouchers
/documents in line with operating procedure. - Administer
and monitor LCs, documentary collections and foreign bills of collection
by carrying out the various processes at the different stages in
the life cycle of these products. - Prepare
and submit regulatory reports for Trade Finance products to the central
bank in a timely manner. - The
incumbent will identify exceptions/suspicious transactions and escalate
them to the Line Manager or Risk in a timely manner. - Verify
and authorize correctness of outward Transactions on the Swift System in
accordance with operating guidelines. - Receive
and resolve customer queries in the trade finance operations within
the agreed timelines. - Reconcile
Collection documents, draft stock for all foreign currency, and ensure
that they are kept under safe custody. - Own
and resolve outstanding items (if any) on the Bank’s Nostro
accounts

Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant for the DFCU Bank Senior
Banking Officer –Trade Finance Operations job opportunity must hold a University Degree - At
least five years of related working experience in Bank operations. - Comprehensive
knowledge and understanding of Bank procedures, policies and regulatory
requirements. - Thorough
knowledge of Trade Finance Operations and good interpretation of
consequences. - Familiarity
with Swift operations including RMA set up. - Excellent
interpersonal and Communication Skills - Ability
to work with diverse groups of people. - Proactive
approach to work with a high level of maturity and self-drive. - Strong
problem solving skills. - High
level of integrity and ethical standards.
